Welcome! I am Maggie Laughlin, a queer, licensed therapist in Massachusetts. I work remotely outside of the Boston area and feel grateful to be able to make an impact on others' lives. Looking at your options for a therapist is the first step in taking care of your mental health. You've chosen now as the moment for you to start the work that will help you build the life you envision for yourself.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, we can go at your pace. If it works for you, I will talk to you about my clinical expertise and self. Please never hesitate to answer any questions about your treatment; this is a very personal process and I encourage you to find someone that feels like a good fit. The therapist can help guide you in your questions in a non-judgmental, supportive way. There is never a "right" or "wrong" thing to say in therapy. Then let's talk about you! I can either guide you with prompting questions, or just give you the floor!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I'm non-judgmental, and have been told that I make people feel safe in therapy. While I do consider myself warm and compassionate, I also challenge my patients with directness. There will also be sarcasm at times, too!

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am a queer, licensed therapist with several years of experience in community and private therapy. I treat adolescents and adults with depression, anxiety and personality disorders. I create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I am DBT-trained and treats clients from this foundation of knowledge, and can provide skills training and therapy. Looking for a therapist is an overwhelming process and finding a good fit is so important. Reaching out for help can be the hardest part, and I encourage you to find someone that you trust and can be your truest self with, whether that be me or another provider. Most therapists have been on the other side of this experience as a patient. and understand the importance of that "good fit" feeling.
