I am Natalie Lewis, a licensed mental health counselor with a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. I have worked with children, individuals, families, and couples for over 10 years, both online and in my private practice. Relationships can be challenging when you consider different personalities and expectations. I have experience working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
In our first session together, I will talk with my client regarding their history, discuss their background, and address any concerns. I will further explore their childhood as well as family and cultural experiences. I will then provide psychoeducation regarding the counseling process and address their goals for counseling.
I graduated with my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling from University of Central Florida. I have experience working with individuals of all ages, couples, foster care, adoptive and blended families. I have a passion for helping my clients feel empowered by their strengths and develop a desire to succeed.
My approach with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) involves taking the first half of the first session to talk about the client's history, discuss their background, and address any concerns. I will then provide psychoeducation to explain to the client how thoughts lead to feelings. I will examine the client's beliefs. I will then show them how distorting thoughts can lead to negative feelings. The goal of therapy will be to help the client change their thoughts.
My approach with counseling involves taking the first half of the first session to talk about the client's history, discuss their background, and address any concerns. I will further explore the client's desire to incorporate Christian counseling within the counseling process. I will then provide psychoeducation to discuss the goal of Christian counseling which is to assist faith-based clients with intentions of strengthening spiritual and emotional well-being. Christian counseling does not only include psychology to support a client but may also be guided by scripture and biblical teaching to help one manage their emotional and mental health. Christian Counseling can include both CBT and solution-focused therapy.
My approach with couples counseling involves taking the first half of the first session to talk about the client's marital history, discuss their background, and address their concerns. I will further explore both spouse childhood and assist the clients with identifying differences. I will then provide psychoeducation on couples counseling and discuss different assessments, books, homeworks and couples platforms (e.g. Prepare and Enrich, Gottman Model). The goal of couples counseling will be to assist the couple with better understanding themselves, their partner and the relationship.
