I am a licensed clinical social worker, practicing social work and case management since 1996. I have worked in various settings including outpatient clinics, residential, jail, nursing homes, and case management in client homes. I currently run intensive outpatient groups as well as individual counseling with individuals of all ages. I believe that movement and change is essential to growth and practice this personally and encourage it professionally. I have a passion for walking alongside my clients and provide tools to help them navigate through life challenges and come out the other side a stronger and more balanced person. I believe that without change there would be no butterflies.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. A brief assessment is important to ensure that I am not overlooking any major factors. During this session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and from there, set goals to provide direction for future sessions. I will also share what I have to offer to this relationship.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a strong desire to see my clients become more independent as our time together is so limited. I am very goal focused and believe that this helps clients to focus on areas of improvement as well as develop skills for themselves. I enjoy giving feedback to help clients gain a broader perspective. Providing worksheets and skills to add to your toolbox for improved mental health is one of my goals as your therapist.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am passionate about transformation and value helping individuals grow as they work through transitional periods in their life. Wanting something different and feeling discomfort is essential and often the motivating factor. I am willing to provide the tools and direction to walk alongside my clients who are willing to show up and participate.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT techniques extensively with my clients and find them extremely effective in bridging the gap between emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. especially for anxiety and depression.

Positive Psychology

Incorporating positive psychology is essential to shifting our mindset away from negative thinking and ultimately leads to lasting lifestyle changes toward being the person you want to be.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT skills include mindfulness, distress tolerance, regulating emotions, and interpersonal effectiveness. Learning these skills allows clients to function at a higher level and increases independence, thus reducing codependency. Regulating our emotions is a critical step in moving forward and getting unstuck.

Faith based therapy

As a strong believer, I am happy to incorporate faith into sessions at whatever level my clients are comfortable. I believe that spirituality (not religion) is a key part of growth along with mental health. Overall wellness and growth is what leads to a balanced life.
