I am a licensed clinical social worker and have doing social work since 1996. I have worked in many settings including outpatient clinics, residential, jail, nursing homes, and case management in client homes. I currently enjoy running intensive outpatient groups and am focusing my attention on individual counseling. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages. I believe that movement and change si essential to growth and practice this personally and encourage it professionally.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. A brief assessment will be important to ensure that I am not overlooking any major factors. During this session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain which will allow us to set goals and directions for future session. I will also share what I have to offer to this relationship.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a strong desire to see my clients become more independent as our time together is so limited. I am very goal focused and believe that this helps clients to focus on areas of improvement as well as develop this skill for themselves. I enjoy giving feedback to help clients gain a broader perspective. Providing worksheets and skills to add to your toolbox for improved mental health is one of my goals as your therapist.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT techniques extensively over the last few years and find them extremely effective with anxiety and depression.

Positive Psychology

I enjoy incorporating positive psychology into all forms of therapy as the shift in mindset leads to lasting lifestyle changes that assist clients in maintaining change on a long term basis.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT skills include learning skills for mindfulness, distress tolerance, regulating emotions, and interpersonal effectiveness. Learning skills allows clients to function at a higher level and increases independence. Regulating our emotions is a critical step in moving forward.

Faith based therapy

As a strong believer, I am happy to incorporate faith into sessions at whatever level my clients are comfortable. I believe that spirituality is a key part of growth along with mental health. Overall wellness and growth is what leads to a balanced life.
