I have worked in a variety of different roles over the years which include individual and family counselling, being a member of a mobile crisis intervention team, working in a hospital setting in the maternity unit, pediatric unit, and on site outpatient health clinic. I most recently was working in an all male correctional facility offering support to both the inmate's and their families. I consider myself to be a generalist and have supported people of all ages with a wide variety of situations.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session I take the time to get to know each person, by asking some general as well as background questions. I believe that this is a good way to learn what has played a role in shaping the person into who they are now. I will also ask you to prioritize your needs and develop a treatment plan to accomplish your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am able to quickly develop a connection with people of all ages, listen and to understand how I can best provide some support. I am able to infuse a touch of humor during some sessions which tends to create a comfortable and safe environment.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with people who are dealing with life transitions which may include entering college, going through a divorce, having relationship issues, or experiencing an empty nest. I also enjoy working with people who are struggling with alcohol or substance abuse issues, low self esteem, depressive or anxiety symptoms. I strive to help each person value themselves and to see their life in a positive way. While on this journey we will be able to focus on how you can live life to the fullest.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts are powerful and have the ability to guide our lives in various ways, some positive while others are not. I have been successful in helping people of all ages examine their thoughts which has resulted in an increase of self esteem and confidence as well as a decrease in anxiety, depression, as well as other symptoms.

Couples Counseling

I think that it is Important to listen to and understand each person's perspective of their situation, therefore I initially meet with each person individually. I have found that this is the most effective way to get to the root of their situation.
