Welcome and thank you for being here. My name is Nicole Mare. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been working in the mental health field for several years, supporting people of different walks of life in finding healing and/or learning how to become the best versions of themselves. I value creating a safe and warm space for individuals to express themselves. I currently specialize in the treatment of ADHD, depression, anxiety, life stressors, and trauma. In therapy I welcome you into this sacred space, the space to unfold slowly, where humor, tears, and everything in between can be embraced and explored together. I like to approach therapy with a lens of co-creating the therapeutic alliance, and guiding you back to your emotions and body, to uncover and rediscover your strengths and story. I tend to draw from different therapy approaches to meet your needs, such as mindfulness, somatic, solution-focused, emotion-focused, and cognitive therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I always start with an introductory session, where you’ll have the opportunity to share your story and what you hope to achieve in therapy. We’ll work together to figure this out! I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment that allows you to feel comfortable sharing and being vulnerable, while also feeling secure. From there, we’ll work together in the sessions that follow to make these goals a reality for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, I feel my greatest strengths lie in my ability to create a safe and empathetic environment where clients feel heard and understood. I approach each client with genuine compassion and curiosity, seeking to understand their unique experiences and perspectives. Another strength is my commitment to evidence-based practices, such as EMDR, which I use to help clients process and heal from trauma. I stay current with advancements in therapeutic techniques to provide the most effective care possible. Lastly, I believe in empowering clients to recognize their resilience and strengths. I strive to be a supportive guide in their journey toward growth and healing, fostering a collaborative relationship that centers their goals and values.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past four years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety/depression/ADHD symptoms. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Attachment-based

I have been using attachment based therapy in my practice for the last four years. It has helped clients to explore and identify the importance of early relationships and bonds with caregivers in shaping an individual's emotional development and interpersonal relationships throughout life. In attachment-based therapy, the focus is on exploring and understanding these early attachment experiences and their impact on current patterns of relating and functioning.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based approach used to help individuals, typically children and adolescents, who have experienced traumatic events. We'll use TF-CBT to identify and process your trauma and help you feel safe in your mind, body, and environment again.

EMDR

I was introduced to EMDR about a year ago while working at a sexual assault treatment center, where I received training in this evidence-based and innovative therapeutic method. Since then, I have found it incredibly effective for clients who have experienced trauma of any kind. EMDR allows individuals to process and reframe traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional intensity, helping clients to regain control and find relief from distressing symptoms. I appreciate how adaptable EMDR is to each client's unique needs and experiences, and I’ve seen firsthand how it can empower people to heal and move forward in their lives.
