Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in North Carolina. I am also licensed in Virginia, Indiana, Colorado, and West Virginia. I completed my Master's Degree in Social Work in 2005 from Eastern Washington University and became licensed in 2015. I use a conversational format with humor mixed in for sessions. Each person is different and your treatment will be developed based on your needs and wants. I am here to guide, support, and encourage you to help meet your goals. I am your therapy cheerleader!
During the first session, I may ask you questions about your history and what brought you to the platform. I may ask you questions about what you would like to work on during sessions and what may be causing difficulties in your life. A plan will be developed to help guide treatment. Please know that this plan is always flexible as situations may arise during treatment that were unexpected!
My therapy approach is flexible and considers a holistic approach. Treatment is individualized to your needs and what your goals may be. I listen to words and underlying meanings to your words as well as identify patterns that you may not be aware of in your life. I am a firm believer that everyone has the ability to change!
CBT is identifying thoughts that are troublesome and changing them into helpful thoughts. CBT is also identifying the feeling-thought-behavior connection and changing one to change them all. This is completed through discussion, homework assignments, and role plays/practices.
CPT is a technique used for trauma. CPT can be intense and generally requires homework. CPT can be a wonderful tool to use to help with changing how you view yourself and your world. CPT also helps you to process traumatic events experienced.
Couples counseling is individual to the couple will be tailored to your specific needs. Couples counseling usually involves homework exercises and activities to get you connected with your partner outside of sessions. During sessions, more challenging or difficult topics may be explored to assist with processing.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment is usually short-term and very focused on a specific goal or item that needs addressed. A therapy plan will be developed in the first one or two sessions to guide treatment.
EFT will be used to help identify emotions and feelings. These feelings can be evaluated to understand how changing them may affect your life in positive ways. This is typically completed through discussion and identification of emotions in regular day-to-day life.
