Hello, my name is Isabelle Cantave, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Florida. Originally from Haiti, I am fluent in both English and Kreyol, which allows me to connect with and support a diverse range of clients. I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 2018, and I have spent the past seven years helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve meaningful personal growth. My passion lies in empowering clients to uncover the best versions of themselves, find purpose in their experiences, and build healthier, more fulfilling lives

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will begin with brief introductions and discuss the expectations from both the client and therapist. We will then explore the specific challenges the client is currently facing, and collaboratively develop a plan aimed at achieving measurable progress. This approach ensures that both the client and therapist are aligned and working together towards meaningful outcomes.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With seven years of experience in the field as a Black professional, I have come to deeply understand the significance of creating a non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe and supported in expressing themselves. I have developed a strong ability to identify the root causes of challenges while recognizing the importance of culture, racial issues, and women’s issues in shaping a client’s experiences. This awareness allows me to approach each client with sensitivity and respect, tailoring my approach to address their unique needs and fostering an inclusive therapeutic space.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have a strong passion for working with both young adults and older adults who are committed to personal growth but may feel lacking in the tools and strategies necessary to achieve their goals. Whether it’s improving professionally, spiritually, or in their relationships, I enjoy helping clients develop the skills, insight, and confidence they need to turn their aspirations into reality.

My treatment methods

Narrative

My experience with Narrative Therapy has provided me with valuable tools to assist clients in becoming the best version of themselves. By utilizing this treatment method, clients are empowered to create a narrative that reflects their unique experiences, allowing them to find meaning and healing. This approach positions the client as the expert in their own life, fostering a sense of ownership and control over their personal story and well-being.

Christian Counseling

My experience with Christian Counseling has allowed me to integrate spiritual principles with therapeutic practices to support clients in their emotional and mental health journey. By combining faith-based values with therapeutic techniques, I help clients draw on their spiritual beliefs to navigate life’s challenges, find healing, and develop a deeper sense of purpose. This approach allows clients to connect with their faith as a source of strength and guidance while addressing their emotional and psychological needs

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

My experience with Solution-Focused Therapy has equipped me with effective tools to help clients focus on their strengths and develop practical solutions to their challenges. This approach emphasizes setting clear goals and identifying actionable steps, allowing clients to build on their successes and make meaningful changes. By focusing on solutions rather than problems, clients are empowered to take control of their progress and create positive outcomes in their lives.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has enabled me to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. By teaching clients practical skills to reframe their thoughts and develop healthier coping mechanisms, I empower them to break unhelpful cycles and improve their emotional well-being. CBT focuses on the present, equipping clients with the tools they need to create lasting change and enhance their overall mental health

Psychoeducation

My experience with Psychoeducation has equipped me to help clients better understand their mental health and behavioral challenges through informative and empowering education. By providing clients with knowledge about their conditions, coping strategies, and effective therapeutic techniques, I enable them to take an active role in their own healing process. This approach not only helps reduce stigma but also fosters a deeper sense of control, confidence, and self-awareness, ultimately promoting long-term emotional well-being.
