As a trauma-informed and client-centered therapist, I am passionate about holistic health and wellness. I believe that individuals have the right to choose their therapist and are ultimately the masters of their own lives. My role is to help them learn how to utilize the right tools and strategies so they can become the fullest version of themselves. I enjoy working with individuals from all walks of life. I specialize in supporting children, teens, adults and those facing life transitions, disordered eating, body image challenges, and those seeking a balanced, healthy lifestyle.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Your first session with me is all about getting to know you. We’ll go over your history, but you only share what you’re comfortable with. I’ll explain the limits of confidentiality and walk you through the therapeutic process. This is the beginning of building a trusting relationship together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is that I’m a real person. I honor my clients’ authenticity, autonomy, and cultural beliefs without ever trying to change them to fit my own views. I genuinely care about each of the individuals I work with and their unique journeys.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented form of therapy that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It operates on the idea that our thoughts, emotions, and actions are interconnected, and by shifting negative or distorted thinking patterns, we can improve our emotional well-being and behavior. CBT is effective in treating a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma, and helps clients develop practical skills to manage challenges and improve their quality of life.

EMDR

Dr. Andrew Dobo, an expert in EMDR therapy, describes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as a powerful, efficient method for healing trauma and emotional distress. EMDR works by helping the brain process and resolve traumatic memories that are “stuck” or unprocessed, leading to symptoms like anxiety, flashbacks, and negative beliefs. Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR activates the brain’s natural healing mechanisms, allowing the distressing memory to lose its emotional charge. This process helps clients integrate the memory in a way that is less disturbing, promoting deep healing and emotional freedom. Dr. Dobo emphasizes that EMDR can be transformative, offering relief in a relatively short period of time compared to traditional talk therapy.

Jungian

Jungian therapy, also known as Jungian analysis, is a therapeutic approach developed by Carl Jung that focuses on exploring the unconscious mind to achieve self-understanding and personal growth. It emphasizes the importance of dreams, archetypes, and the collective unconscious in shaping a person’s thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Through deep exploration of the psyche, individuals gain insight into their inner conflicts and discover pathways toward individuation—a process of becoming one’s true, whole self. Jungian therapy is often used to address issues such as trauma, anxiety, and life transitions.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a form of therapy where individuals come together in a supportive environment to share their experiences, gain insights, and learn from others facing similar challenges. Led by a trained therapist, group therapy encourages open discussion, mutual support, and personal growth. It can help individuals develop communication skills, build connections, and foster a sense of belonging while addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based therapy is an approach that incorporates mindfulness practices, such as meditation and deep breathing, to help individuals become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. By cultivating present-moment awareness, clients can learn to reduce stress, manage difficult emotions, and develop healthier coping strategies. This approach is often used to address anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns, helping individuals respond to life’s challenges with greater clarity and balance.
