Hi! I’m Melissa. Do you feel pulled in a million and one directions? Do you feel stuck in cycles of unhappiness and confusion? Do you struggle to be kind to yourself? You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. I help individuals identify and resolve symptoms of anxiety, stress, and trauma. Together, we can use approaches that address the needs of your mind, body, and spirit, resulting in a stronger relationship with yourself. Whether you're dealing with overwhelm, relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, I'm here to help decrease symptoms and increase your skills to cope. Seeking therapy can feel scary. But if you are reading this, you have the courage to take the step. In our sessions together, I'll meet you without judgment and use evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the concerns that are holding you back. Are you ready to get started?

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will discuss your expectations, therapy goals, and session preferences. Then, when you are ready, we will discuss your specific concerns. We'll create a tailored plan to work through in future sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths include an understanding of how to manage your nervous system responses that make you fight, flee, or freeze. You will benefit from my ongoing studies in Polyvagal Theory and develop skills to respond to yourself and the world with greater ease.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help alleviate the distress associated with traumatic events and memories. EMDR is an eight-phase evidence-based treatment that begins with developing trust with you.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a widely used, evidence-based therapy that helps you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors using psychoeducation, identifying and challenging negative thoughts, and behavioral activation. I often integrate CBT techniques with Mindfulness and somatic techniques as they are helpful to you.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I offer mindfulness-based techniques to help you enhance self-awareness, reduce stress, and improve emotional regulation. My clients find mindfulness techniques helpful in establishing a sense of safety and grounding when coping with daily stress and when processing past trauma.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

During my EMDR training and certification, I was introduced to the use of Internal Family System techniques during trauma treatment. I use IFS techniques today to help clients process trauma without re-traumatization. My clients also find that IFS techniques help cultivate self-compassion and reduce and resolve internal conflict.
