I am a student of life with a goal of becoming a kind, compassionate, authentic individual able to keep my cool in the worst situations. I have a Master's degree in Mental Health and Rehabilitation from University of South Florida. I have experience working with issues of trauma, abuse, violence, hurt, loss, rage and confusion, to name a few. I offer frank, non-judgmental feedback to help my client and client couples create the life and approach that best expresses their integrity.
In our first session, I will be actively listening to the descriptors of the issue that you are working with so I can stand in your shoes and look out of your eyes. My goal is to understand the struggles you are facing and strategies you employ. I am also seeking to understand the strengths you are calling from to manage the situation.
I am an active listener and I employ strategy to craft from factors and strengths within the client's psychological, emotional, experiential framework in order to make new reframes and motivations. I am also very respectful of the authenticity of the client. It can be said I am an adept psychological architect of building bridges, sometimes within and sometimes to the outside world.
My approach to counseling Christians is to be mindful of treating the relationship between God and His precious child...you. Together we can explore the wisdom of the Bible and how to apply that wisdom to everyday life. I teach skills that promote compassion, kindness, good boundaries and responsible living in a hostile world.
Let's face it, the world can be a difficult place to be vulnerable in. I actively listen and offer a frank, non-judgmental exploration of the issue(s) that is creating persistent upset and stuckness. I pull from my 14 years of experience addressing abuse and trauma to help shape a unique awareness pertinent to your values.
I have worked with trauma focused CBT for 14 years. I work across age-groups as well as with parents of young children so they can acquire and master the tools necessary for self-compassion and direct communication of needs.
I have worked with family therapy for 14 years. My experience comes from addressing issues that put families at risk for ruptures. I also help the members acquire skills for effective parenting and coping skills. I offer frank, non-judgmental exploration of the family dynamics of connection, disconnection and autonomy.
