Hi all! I am an LCSW and a Board Approved Supervisor for LCSW in Virginia. I obtained a BA in Psychology with a minor in Childhood Development from Ashford University and a Masters in Social Work with a concentration on children and families from the University of Southern California. I have worked in the field for over 14 years and in many capacities including school counseling, outreach with DJJ, mentoring, life skills coaching, MH outpatient therapy, Substance Use outpatient therapy, and program development and supervision. I also provide licensure supervision to assist other LCSW's in their endeavors towards licensure.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, you can expect to spend time getting to know one another and building rapport. I will conduct a clinical assessment to learn all I can about you so that we can work together to build the most effective treatment plan for success.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As an LCSW, I am not only focused on assisting with understanding and managing symptoms related to Mental Health and Substance Use diagnoses, but am also interested in assisting clients to make the necessary changes in their environments and to find resources that will help clients thrive during and after discharge from treatment. I am solution focused and client centered, and am constantly adapting treatment modalities to best fit each client individually.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have utilized CBT for more than 10 years with clients and I use it to challenge and change thinking processes when working with most mental health disorders including but not limited to, depression and anxiety.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have over 6 years experience with this modality and often utilize this modality when working with personality disorders or with clients that have difficulty managing and/or regulating emotions.

EMDR

I am certified in EMDR and use this intervention when working with clients who have experienced trauma and/or are diagnosed with PTSD.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have been utilizing TF-CBT for several years and currently use this modality to work with clients who have experienced trauma. I especially utilize TF-CBT with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma/abuse/neglect/grief.

Motivational Interviewing

I have over 8 years experience utilizing MI, and use this modality to build rapport, to address ambivalence, and to increase motivation for change.
