Hi, my name is Maria Ximena, a licensed psychotherapist, that's passionate about improving the lives of others by fostering mental health well-being. If you're seeking a therapist that works with you side by side, focusing on your strengths while intervening in areas that need attention, then you are in the right place. I specialize in anxiety and depressive disorders, codependency and relationship issues, self-esteem, phase of life transitions, personality disorders, forensics among others. With nearly two decades of mental health experience, I've gained exposure in an array of settings with diverse populations and diagnoses. Currently, I hold clinical licensures in both Florida and Pennsylvania. In addition, I'm a Florida Certified Qualified Supervisor, for clinical social work for over 10 years; hence I have a strong interest in cultivating the professional development of our future clinicians. In-person appointments available in Miami, Florida.
Our first session will consist of building rapport and gathering background information and history. We will address what prompted you to reach out to me as well as develop general goals you'd like to attain in order to move forward in later visits.
Methods drawn upon are evidenced-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), solution focused, relapse prevention and other research supported approaches. Therapeutic approaches are used to meet your needs and goals. I also implement additional measurement tools/ assessments to monitor progress. Depending on the client, 'homework' (aids or tasks) may be another appropriate tool worked into the therapeutic process.
Providing a warm, relaxed comfortable environment yet with enough structure is my style. My focus is client centered therefore each client is unique and I aim at shifting as needed throughout the therapeutic process and alliance. By implementing evidence-based skills and supportive interactive feedback, I foster individual empowerment and self-sufficiency regardless of diagnoses. Specialty areas include: social and generalized anxiety, young adults facing life challenges and changes; adult relationship and work issues/ conflicts; personality struggles; individuals in narcissistic relationships/ survivors of same, perfectionism; breaking free from codependency and realizing your true self; depression and emotional dysregulation.
