Growing up in China and spending seven years in South Korea, I bring a unique perspective shaped by rich cultural and religious experiences. My educational journey includes a Master’s in Christian Education and a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary, enhancing my ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds. I’ve been happily married for five years, and together with my husband, we cherish our time with our three-year-old daughter. When I’m not in the office, you’ll often find me exploring nature, trying new foods, and creating lasting memories with my family.
In your first counseling session, you can expect a 50 minutes welcoming and confidential environment. Here’s a general idea of what to anticipate: Introductions: Crystal will likely introduce herself and explain their approach to therapy. Assessment: You may discuss your background, current challenges, and goals for counseling. This helps Crystal understand your unique situation. Setting Expectations: Crystal will explain how sessions typically work, including the frequency and duration. Confidentiality: You’ll be informed about the confidentiality policy, so you know your privacy is protected. Questions: Feel free to ask any questions about the counseling process, Crystal's qualifications, or what to expect in future sessions. Open Dialogue: The session will be conversational, allowing you to express your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Remember, the first session is often about building rapport and understanding your needs, so it’s perfectly okay to take your time and share what you feel comfortable with.
Having worked as a licensed counselor in the past 6 years, I have developed a set of practical tools for clients who are ready to make changes. My goal is to equip and empower you through our work in order to live your life confidently with the toolbox.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that helps people identify and change negative thinking patterns and behaviors that are causing problems in their lives. The basic idea is that the way we think affects how we feel and behave. By learning to recognize and challenge unhelpful thoughts, we can feel better and act in healthier ways. It's often used to treat things like anxiety, depression, and stress.
We focus on conflict management, effectively communication and listening, as well as building emotional and sexual intimacy in couples counseling.
We integrate biblical principles in counseling sessions in order to bring healing to spiritual, mind, and soul.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of trying to avoid or control them. It encourages focusing on what matters most in life and taking meaningful actions, even when facing discomfort. The goal is to live a more fulfilling life by being present, flexible, and aligned with personal values.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a type of therapy that focuses on improving emotional connections in relationships, particularly between couples. It helps people understand and express their feelings, resolve conflicts, and strengthen bonds by fostering emotional safety and intimacy. EFT aims to create a secure attachment between partners, allowing them to better support each other through difficult emotions and experiences.
