Hello! My name is Shantell and I am a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). My primary focus as a counselor is to make sure my clients feel supported, empowered, and safe throughout the counseling experience while adding a little razzle dazzle/ fun to your life. I have experience working with foster care youth, teen parents, children/adolescents whom struggle with mental health, and adult males whom struggle with substance use and criminal activity. I am a strong believer in healthy relationships and overall helping others reach their upmost potential physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually. My therapeutic approach is a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, DBT, and Solution -Focused Therapy. This integrative approach will allow me to tailor my therapeutic style to each client’s uniqueness. I like to focus on identifying your strengths, values and beliefs with the goal of helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles.
In our first session, we will complete introductions, talk about any challenges you are facing and discuss next steps in the therapeutic relationship.
My greatest strengths as a provider are my ability to meet the client where they are, genuineness, and sense of humor.
The clients i love working with clients who are looking for a therapist that listens and uplifts them. My clients are interested but not always ready to make the leap to change but trust me as their therapist that they will gain the encouragement to move forward with change at their own pace.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors correlate.
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients understand themselves and others.
I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients reach their goals in everyday life, giving them encouragement and confidence in themselves to make a decision.
