I am a dedicated Licensed Therapist with over 30 years of mental health experience. My seasoned expertise lies in helping adults and couples navigate through complex emotional life challenges while creating a safe space to develop coping strategies in stress management, depression, anxiety, intimate relationship challenges, emotional regulation, and grief. I use an integrative approach to therapy by utilizing various holistic and traditional therapy methods to address the whole person.
Our first session together will help me gain a deeper understanding of your current challenges; we will develop a plan for moving forward in treatment from the information gathered. Therapy will be difficult sometimes and at other times the most enjoyable part of your week. As a therapist, I welcome these opposing states and embrace them as a sign of good work being done on your behalf. I ask that you bring your authentic and whole self to each session. I encourage you to allow yourself to experience any emotion or thought freely.
One of my greatest strengths is the ability to fully empathize with my clients. I'm an intuit by nature, which means I not only rely on logical reasoning alone, but I am also actively listening to gut feelings and subconscious perceptions about the situation presented by clients with empathy and openness. This helps me to understand the needs of clients on a deeper level without relying solely on conscious verbal communication.
My ideal client is seeking someone who is truly motivated to be empowered with tools for success; someone committed to a two-way therapeutic relationship, who wants to be challenged to grow and expand in ways unimageable right now; someone who appreciates a space for positivity, expansion, education, and healing.
My clinical approach is integrative with the use of mindfulness-based CBT which addresses the connections between mind, body, and soul. My strategies are designed to foster a greater sense of self-awareness, help clarify challenging issues, gain helpful insights into your own thoughts and feelings, and identify your innate strengths to get you moving in the right direction.
Grieving is usually recognized as both a process and a state; the journey is not an easy one but most people can learn to cope with grief. The overall goal of grief therapy is to help the survivor adapt to the loss of a loved-one and be able to adjust to a new reality without them. Grief therapy assist clients in processing the pain and emotions due to a significant loss; it helps clients to move through loss with dignity and respect while regaining normal life functions.
Couples therapy helps to improve the relationship between partners. My aim is to help couples create safety within their relationships, form new healthy patterns of interactions, break old unhealthy patterns to improve communication and intimacy, explore underlying issues, and strengthen the relationship with healthier coping mechanisms.
Mindfulness-based therapy combines elements of guided meditation, breathing exercises, body scans, with cognitive behavioral therapy to help individuals become more consciously aware of their thoughts, feelings, and emotions in the present moment without judgment, allowing them to respond to challenges in a healthier way.
