I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Arizona, holding degrees from Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University. With over twenty years of experience as a high school counselor specializing in mental health, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals across all age groups. My expertise encompasses assisting those with neurodivergent conditions and mental health challenges, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and navigating life transitions. Additionally, I co-authored the book Sticky Note Mantras: The Art & Science of Choosing Your Thoughts.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial session, we will begin with brief introductions before delving into the specific challenges you are currently facing. Together, we will identify your strengths and available resources to support your journey of growth and change. This foundational understanding will enable me to develop a personalized plan for us to work through in subsequent sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With over twenty years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and families across educational, competitive/athletic, and therapeutic settings, I bring a diverse and well-rounded perspective to my work. I am approachable and committed to helping others overcome challenges and empowering them to achieve their fullest potential. It is an honor to listen to my client's stories and serve as a supportive and encouraging guide on their journey toward improved mental health and overall well-being.

My treatment methods

EMDR

Certified in EMDR and Advanced EMDR which is an innovative and proven clinical treatment that has helped over a million individuals worldwide. EMDR is based on the premise that the mind can often heal itself naturally, in the same way as the body does. EMDR is a bottom-up approach that utilizes the natural healing ability of your body and the use of bilateral stimulation to help with the treatment of trauma and trauma triggers, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, PTSD, anger, phobias, sleep problems, grief and loss, addictions, pain, performance anxiety, and feelings of worthlessness/low self-esteem.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I am certified in ACT which is based on behavioral psychology and cognitive behavioral therapy and emphasizes mindfulness and acceptance techniques., such as Cognitive Defusion from Unhelpful Thoughts, Mindful Grounding, and Cognitive Restructuring.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is based on the idea that thoughts, feelings, actions, and physical sensations are interconnected and that negative thoughts can lead to negative cycles. CBT aims to help us break these cycles by teaching us to identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and interpret events more positively.

Psychological Testing And Evaluation

ADHD-PT® - Certified in ADHD Assessment & Treatment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a powerful, evidence-based therapeutic technique designed to help individuals process and heal from trauma, anxiety, and other emotional challenges. It works by identifying specific "brainspots" — points in the visual field that are connected to distressing memories or emotions. By focusing on these spots while engaging in guided therapy, clients can access deep brain processing to release stored trauma, reduce emotional pain, and promote healing. Brainspotting is often described as a gentle, effective approach that can lead to lasting changes in how clients manage stress, emotions, and past trauma.
