Welcome! My name's Becca. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for helping others. I’m dedicated to creating a strong therapeutic alliance, founded in shared goals for a life worth living. I’ll provide a warm, supportive, safe, and professional space for you to feel comfortable delving into difficult past and present situations, in order to pave a new, happier, and healthier way forward. Making the decision to start therapy can bring up a mix of emotions. You have reached a point where you are ready to take control of your life and create a change for the better. For this, I greatly applaud your courage! While the work may be challenging at times, I am a firm believer that “The only way out is through.” And oh, will it be worth it when you break through. In working together, it is my ambition that you (re)gain a sense of empowerment in your life. If this is what you’re looking for, then let’s get started.
In choosing me as your therapist, we will work together for you to discover your identity and core values, form radical acceptance and self-love, gain insight and understanding, create new ways of coping and problem-solving, strengthen relationships and communication, among other profound matters of life. I'll be with you every step of the way and serve as support as you work to overcome these obstacles, and I’ll be there to celebrate when you achieve your goals. Since everyone is unique in his/her/their story, sessions with me vary from person to person. That said, with all of my clients, our sessions will feel like a reciprocal conversation, instead of an interview. I aspire for you to leave every session feeling safe, supported, accepted, and respected.
If you take anything away from my profile, I hope it is my passion and dedication for being a mental health provider! My life experience instilled in me a genuine desire to help others and has allowed me to approach all people and situations from a lens of empathy, care, and non-judgment. I have seen that healing and recovery are possible, and I commit to working with equal resoluteness as you discover this for yourself. I will be alongside as support on your journey to achieving your goals—and I’ll be just as happy for you, as you are for yourself, when you reach them.
While your journey is unique, the individuals I serve in therapy share common ground; they would like to improve their quality of life and overcome challenges by exploring with openness and inquisitiveness their past and present situations, in a supportive and collaborative environment, to accomplish their goals for a brighter future. If this is your desired outcome through therapy and what you’re looking for in a therapist, schedule a session with me today to embark on the path to healing, personal growth, and wellness.
I am dedicated to providing a supportive, healing, and collaborative therapeutic environment, with quality of care tailored to you. I am trauma-informed, strength-based, culturally responsive, and person-centered in all my interventions. I strive to be a lifelong learner and continue to learn from each client that I serve. I believe in acceptance, equality and inclusion, and respect for each person, and carry these values in my practice.
My approach to therapy is eclectic, as I align evidence-based interventions to your unique set of experiences. Similarly, I will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan; thus, the therapeutic modalities I use will likely shift over time as you progress and achieve your goals, and may vary from session to session depending on your specific needs.
While I am skilled in utilizing various treatment methods, my therapy style is primarily narrative. As a narrative therapist, I practice with the belief that you are the expert in your own life, and my role as a therapist is to serve as a guide throughout sessions. Together we will explore your individual set of needs and experiences on a deeper level, to evoke insight, self-awareness, self-love, and understanding, and embark on a new way forward to achieve your goals.
Your story is unique to you. Thus, your lived experiences influence the way you view the world, and these experiences have also helped to form your ways of thinking and problem-solving. However, often thoughts get distorted along the way, and the result is unhealthy (and faulty) thinking. Through CBT, we will work to refute cognitive distortions, change unhelpful behavior patterns, and create new ways of coping, in order to have symptom relief and a life of satisfaction.
DBT teaches skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. By developing these skills, you’ll be better equipped to accept and navigate life’s circumstances, solve problems in a healthy way, and achieve your goals for a better and happier future.
