Hello! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in California. I received my Masters from the University of Southern California and have been practicing for almost 30 years. I help adults struggling with mood disorders, addictions, grief and trauma. I have worked with very many different populations and am always learning and applying current methods and research based interventions. this is important to me in order to be able to help people feel hope and believe that they can find solutions for their issues.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session I feel that it is very important for you to feel comfortable and are allowed the opportunity to ask questions important for them. My goal is for us to get acquainted and for me to get a sense of what your most important needs are and help you decide if I am a good fit and qualified to help you in your therapy journey. Of course I will be asking you questions that help us get to know each other better. Together we will decide whether we are a good fit and how you would like to move forward in your healing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I tend to be able to make people feel welcomed no matter the age, gender, lifestyle, spiritual beliefs, culture, religious affiliations, etcetera. I am very open-minded and even though I have been practicing quite a long time, I always have new things to learn. I also have a deeply held belief that there is always hope, even in the darkest of times. I am very fair and compassionate, and at the same time ask the difficult questions when needed for your well-being. I am honest and genuine and truly grateful that I enjoy a full life.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work very well with men, women, and families directly or indirectly affected by addiction. Additionally the addicted person also tends to struggle with mood disorders, past abuse and significant loss. I have discovered through many years of direct practice that addiction is more a symptom of underlying issues that result from unresolved issues like trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, family of origin attachments and others. have worked extensively with couples and families and offer interventions and solutions for recovery. Medication assisted treatment is highly researched and utilized in addiction treatment and I have worked with this intervention for many years. Additionally I am trained in and utilize EMDR treatment for trauma, which is also a very useful tool for clients that have experienced trauma.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

I have utilized this method for my entire 25 yr experience. It allows me to understand your early and present attachments and provide you with insight that helps you make any changes you would like to attempt in order to improve you overall quality of life.

EMDR

I trained at the EMDR Institute and am certified in this method for treating trauma. I have successfully treated many clients for trauma and helped them move through the trauma and find true recovery.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been practicing CBT therapy for many years and use it to help clients struggling with a wide variety of issues. It has been especially useful when treating addictions, which I have extensive experience in.

Experiential Therapy

Throughout my practice experience I have utilized Experiential therapy on many occasions. It's a type of therapy that uses activities like art, music, role-play, and props to help my clients process and express their emotions. These activities have helped them access feelings that may be difficult to communicate or even hidden.

Group Therapy

I not only have facilitated hundreds of groups but I have also done extensive trainings for clinicians that are in need of education in how to practice group therapy. I have done groups with children, adolescents, adults, addicts, families and much more. It is a very effective method for people struggling with almost any mental or physical problem.
