Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in the state of Texas. I received my master's degree in social work from the University of New England in the state of Maine. I have been practicing for 4 years, and I primarily help adults who are experiencing challenges with various substance use disorders, anxiety and depression.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and create collaboratively established goals. The first session is about building a relationship and information gathering so we are able to set those therapeutic goals appropriately. This session may feel awkward, but that can be part of the process. It is also not uncommon to feel a range of emotions from excitement, to feeling drained. The next session is where you can expect it to feel more like "regular" therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My therapeutic style is collaborative, encouraging, strengths based and solution oriented. In working together, we can cultivate growth by understanding obstacles you face and developing solutions that can help you gain control of your life and achieve your goals.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with adults who are experiencing challenges with addiction, anxiety and/or depression. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and at times as though they're unable to engage in areas of daily functioning.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a type of psychotherapy that helps people identify and challenge negative thoughts and behavior. CBT is a collaborative approach in working towards finding solutions and teaches people new skills to that will help improve someone's overall quality of life.

Motivational Interviewing

Utilization of motivational interviewing creates a supportive and collaborative environment where I am primarily listening to the you, asking open-ended questions and engaging in reflection. This is done to encourage you to identify your own reasons for change and empowering you to make positive decisions about their behavior without feeling pressured to do so.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

This form of therapy helps you identify and build upon existing strengths and resources to collaboratively develop solutions for your current challenges. As a provider, I will be asking targeted questions that encourage you to envision a positive future and actively work towards achieving your goals, rather than focusing on the details of your issues.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

With this method, I will utilize active listening, reflection, and validation to create a supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. This helps to allow people to process and self-discover to find your own solutions.
