Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Texas and California. I am also a Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider in Texas. I received my doctoral degree in counselor education from Texas A&M in Corpus Christi, TX. I enjoy working with persons from all walks of life and am actively involved in research and learning about Autism Spectrum Disorder - specifically adult diagnosed persons; lowering victim numbers through sexual abuser prevention, treatment, and provider care; as well as the biological/neurological changes which contribute to addiction. Helping people navigate life transitions and new expectations from emerging adulthood, , mid-life changes including sexuality, children, careers, relationship types, and all the chaos of life, to end of life decisions and stresses as parents pass on, retirement choices have to be made, grandchildren raised, disease, and loss of friends and family. For persons who have spent part of their lives in jails and prisons, navigating the world that changed while you were not active in it is often difficult, helping you take those steps to understanding your new normal is my privilege.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will explore what brings you to therapy. With some time spent on your personal background and how you are feeling today, we will work out the beginning of our treatment plan and have a solid place to jump off of!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With a solid sense of your worth, I bring to the table a consistent belief in you as a human of worth. My sense of compassion, empathy, and therapeutic humor allow me to support you during your time of change.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Persons who are ready to share how they are feeling and what they want are often best served in therapy. It doesn't matter if you know how to get where you want to, that is a part of the process that we can navigate together. When you are ready for change, together we will use compassion and empathy to navigate that path.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I believe each of us is an expert in our own lives. All of us are striving to become the best version of ourselves and my job as your counselor is to hear what you are saying, thinking, and feeling - and help you hear it too - I cannot "fix" you, I *can* help you to see where you are and hold a lantern to help you find the path forward that is best for you.

Integrative

By integrating evidence based therapy practices with humor, empathy, and care we will create a space where you can achieve change through learning new skills - and how to not use old, ineffective tools - in a place where you can expect respect, accountability, and encouragement.
