Welcome! I am Kevin, an LCSW with over 20 years of experience working in healthcare and individual therapy. I specialize in helping adults navigate life’s challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, work stress, life transitions, and caregiver issues. Whether you're dealing with a major life change, struggling to manage stress, or simply need someone to talk to, I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings, gain insight, and build practical strategies for healing and growth. I believe in empowering clients by building on their strengths and helping them develop healthy coping skills. If you're ready to take the next step toward living a more balanced and fulfilled life, I’m here to guide you. Let’s work together to create positive change in your life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, my primary goal is to get to know you better and create a safe, comfortable space for us to begin working together. We’ll start by talking about your background, what brought you to therapy, and any challenges or experiences you’re currently facing. This helps me understand your unique situation and how best to support you. We’ll also discuss your goals for therapy—what you hope to achieve and what outcomes you’d like to see. I want to understand what you’re looking for in this process, whether it’s managing anxiety, navigating a life transition, or improving relationships. I’ll ask about your past experiences with therapy, if any, and what worked or didn’t work for you. This gives me insight into your preferences and helps me tailor our approach to meet your needs. Lastly, we’ll talk about your expectations for therapy—what you hope to get out of our sessions and how you’d like our work together to unfold. My role is to guide you, and I want to make sure we’re aligned on how we’ll work together to reach your goals. By the end of the session, we’ll have a clear understanding of where you’re starting from, what we’ll focus on moving forward, and how we can make this process as helpful and effective as possible for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

What makes me unique as a therapist is the combination of my extensive professional experience and my personal life experiences that help me connect with clients on a deeper level. With over 20 years in healthcare, I’ve worked with a wide range of individuals and families facing challenges such as stress, life transitions, and grief. This experience has equipped me with the tools to adapt my approach to each client’s specific needs, whether they’re navigating personal struggles or professional challenges. On a personal level, I’ve experienced the profound loss of my wife to cancer, which deeply shaped my understanding of grief and resilience. I know firsthand the emotional complexities of facing unexpected challenges and rebuilding after loss. As a father and widower, I have deep insight into family life, caregiving, and the delicate balance of supporting others while managing your own emotions. In my career, I’ve spent much of my time working in prominent female industries and with nurses, which has shaped my understanding of gender dynamics, communication, and relationships. This background allows me to offer a balanced perspective on both men’s and women’s experiences. These combined experiences—both professional and personal—have helped me develop a deep sense of empathy, a non-judgmental approach, and a flexible therapeutic style that allows me to support my clients effectively. I’m here to walk alongside you, offering guidance and understanding as we work together toward your healing and growth.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with adults who are facing life challenges or simply need a compassionate, impartial person to discuss their feelings with. If you're experiencing anxiety, depression, or dealing with significant life changes—such as a career shift, relationship changes, or transitioning into a new phase of life—I can help you navigate these transitions with support and understanding. I also work with individuals who are coping with grief and loss, whether it's the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or other major life losses. If you're struggling with anxiety or depression, I’ll help you develop coping strategies to manage these emotions and regain control over your thoughts and behaviors. In addition, I specialize in supporting caregivers who are feeling overwhelmed by the demands of caring for others. If you’re balancing caregiving responsibilities while neglecting your own well-being, I can help you find ways to manage stress and create a healthier balance in your life. No matter what challenge you’re facing, my approach is centered on empowering you with the tools and strategies you need to navigate life’s difficulties, heal, and create positive change.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my practice, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based approach that helps you navigate life’s changes by focusing on what truly matters to you. ACT also teaches you how to respond to difficult thoughts and emotions in a healthy way. With ACT, we’ll work on mindfulness to stay aware of the present moment, and I’ll help you change your relationship with unhelpful thoughts. You’ll also learn how to accept difficult emotions instead of avoiding them, identify your core values, and take steps toward achieving your goals. My goal is to help you live a life that aligns with your values, even when facing challenges or discomfort. Let me know if you'd like any changes or further details!

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. CBT is a structured, evidence-based approach that is especially effective for managing stress, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Together, we’ll work on recognizing negative thoughts, challenging them, and building new coping skills. This will help you create healthier habits, gain control over your thoughts and emotions, and feel more confident in your daily life. My goal is to provide you with practical tools to navigate challenges and make lasting, positive changes.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In my practice, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients manage intense emotions, build healthier relationships, and develop effective coping strategies. DBT is especially helpful for those struggling with anxiety, depression, or difficulty handling stress. Together, we’ll work on mindfulness, which will help you stay present and become more aware of your thoughts and emotions without judgment. I’ll also guide you in building skills to handle difficult emotions and stressful situations without feeling overwhelmed, so you can respond in a healthier, more controlled way. In my practice, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you manage emotions, handle stress, and improve relationships. DBT is especially useful if you struggle with anxiety, depression, or feeling overwhelmed. Together, we’ll work on mindfulness to help you stay present and aware of your thoughts and emotions without judgment. I’ll also teach you skills to handle tough emotions and stressful situations in a healthier way. We’ll focus on better communication, setting boundaries, and expressing your needs so you can build stronger relationships and make better decisions. My goal is to help you feel more in control, balanced, and confident in your daily life.

Grief Therapy

Grief therapy helps individuals cope with the emotions and challenges that come after a loss, whether it's the death of a loved one or another major life change. In our sessions, we’ll explore your emotions, process the impact of the loss, and find healthy ways to cope. Grief is a personal journey, and I’m here to support you in adjusting to life after the loss, finding meaning, and healing at your own pace. We’ll also address any complicated feelings to help you move forward.

Strength-Based

In strength-based therapy, I focus on helping you identify and build on your existing strengths and resources. Instead of focusing on problems, we’ll explore what you already do well—like your resilience, skills, and past successes—and use those to overcome current challenges. This approach helps you build confidence, tap into your potential, and feel more in control of your life moving forward.
