I am a Counselor who has a passion for mental health, whether that's advocating, supporting, educating, or helping to manage mental health and all that it encompasses. I enjoy supporting clients while they find their voice and work towards feeling whole. I have worked in private and public fields gaining experience in family, couples, group and individual services. I have over 8 years of experience working with: mental health, addiction, trauma, family, dual diagnosis, crisis intervention and parenting.
First sessions are a safe place to breathe and build a rapport with the Clinician. My goal is to make sure that the client is feeling comfortable, safe, heard and most of all leaves the session feeling hopeful.
Having worked in multiple therapeutic settings I've grown in how I relate to a client and recognizing that I'm working with them at their most vulnerable state. I also recognize that I could be their only source of support and that is not to be taken lightly. It's important they know their worth and that there is hope. Qualities that I've been told by colleagues and client I have are: Positive, optimistic, empathetic, supportive, passionate.
Those who need help finding their voice, need a personal (in a professional way/setting) cheerleader and have struggled to either engage in therapy or have had bad experiences with treatment services. I work well with all age groups, in group, family or individual settings. I have most of my experience in mental health settings, public and private. I have served children through adults with dual diagnosis, mental health crisis intervention, mental health management, and IDD.
Counseling can be challenging and a client can experience different needs/situations per session, the eclectic approach allows me to customize the client's needs and interventions in live time. There is no cookie cutter approach for each presenting problem. Different problems, different approaches.
