Hello. My name is Vanessa, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor. I currently reside in Texas, surviving the amazing weather when it makes up its mind. I received my Master of Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Texas-Pan American and have been practicing since 2018.

I currently reside in Texas after living a few years on Alaska!

I mostly work with adults struggling to process life and help them learn better coping skills to function successfully in their lives and society. Aside from therapy, I as an individual love being involved with the world, such as going out and about in nature, working out, and spending time with family, friends, and fur-babies.

First session

In the first session, we will start with brief introductions, which will then lead to the client taking the floor to discuss their therapeutic goals. This will help provide some insight into how future sessions will be structured.

Strengths

As a provider, I bring comfort and confidence to the table. Clients feel comfortable discussing their concerns/issues, which helps us work more efficiently on their therapy goals. Great rapport is established, which allows the client to have more confidence in the therapeutic process.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Utilize CBT to focus on challenging and changing cognitive distortions such as thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes and their associated behaviors to improve emotional regulation. This modality is best practiced for Depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and substance use.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing assists the client in recognizing their own strengths and abilities to grow and change despite past failures. This allows the client to process their thoughts with the support and empathy of the therapist. Again, this modality is used for depression, anxiety, life changes, and substance use.

Supportive

Supportive therapy allows the client a safe space to talk. Sometimes, a client wants to vent about a bad day, as this will enable them to express their emotions and feelings without fear of judgment.
