Rachel Morris
Rachel Morris is the Founder and CEO of Advanced Change, LLC. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist (CART) dedicated to helping individuals achieve emotional wellness and personal growth. Rachel earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Sam Houston State University in 2006 and her Master of Education in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University in 2013. Before transitioning into private practice, she built a strong foundation in education, serving as both a teacher and a school counselor. These roles provided her with extensive experience collaborating with students, parents, educators, and community stakeholders to support academic, emotional, and behavioral success.
She is a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) certified in and CART (Certified Anger Resolution Therapist).
Throughout her career, Rachel has held several leadership positions, where she developed and implemented programs designed to improve mental health outcomes and strengthen organizational effectiveness. Her passion for empowering others ultimately led her to leave the educational setting and establish Advanced Change, LLC, where she continues to provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling services while leading a practice committed to fostering healing, resilience, and lasting change.
First session
During our first session, we will take time to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. We will discuss your personal background, current concerns, and the experiences that led you to take this important step toward becoming the best version of yourself. Together, we will identify your strengths, explore your treatment needs, and develop meaningful goals you would like to accomplish over the first three months of therapy. We will also discuss your expectations for counseling and any additional areas you would like to address throughout the course of treatment. This collaborative process helps ensure that your treatment plan is tailored to your unique needs and supports your journey toward healing, growth, and lasting change.
Strengths
Rachel specializes in treating trauma, anxiety, anger management, and depression. She believes that life's challenges can often leave us feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, and uncertain, but healing is possible with the right support and perspective. Rachel incorporates a strengths-based, positive therapeutic approach that empowers clients to recognize their resilience, reframe negative thought patterns, and develop healthier ways of coping. She is passionate about helping individuals gain a renewed perspective on life, build emotional well-being, and discover the confidence to create meaningful, lasting change. Her goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and equipped to thrive.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with clients who are committed to their personal growth and willing to apply what they learn outside of the therapy session. While therapy can be challenging, meaningful change occurs through consistency, intentional effort, and a willingness to practice new skills between sessions. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I am committed to partnering with my clients to achieve the goals we establish together during our first session. I encourage clients to come prepared to discuss their experiences, successes, challenges, and questions so that each session is purposeful and productive. By actively engaging in the therapeutic process both in and outside of session, you can make meaningful progress toward the life you envision and the goals you hope to achieve.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals identify and change unhelpful or negative patterns of thinking that influence emotions and behaviors. Rather than simply replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, CBT teaches clients to recognize distorted thinking, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and develop more balanced, realistic perspectives. As clients begin to practice these new ways of thinking consistently, they are better equipped to make healthier behavioral choices, improve emotional regulation, and respond to life's challenges more effectively. Through ongoing practice and the use of practical coping skills, clients can create lasting changes that support their overall mental and emotional well-being.
Trauma-Focused CBT
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment designed to help individuals process and heal from the effects of traumatic experiences. The goal of TF-CBT is not to erase the past but to help clients understand how trauma has impacted their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships. Through therapy, clients learn to reframe unhelpful beliefs related to their traumatic experiences and develop healthier ways of coping with everyday life. As treatment progresses, clients build practical coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and gradually reduce trauma-related symptoms. By consistently practicing these skills, clients can replace unwanted behaviors with healthier responses, increase resilience, and move forward with greater confidence, safety, and hope.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that helps clients develop practical skills to manage emotions, reduce distress, and improve relationships. DBT incorporates mindfulness practices, deep breathing, grounding techniques, and meditation to help calm the mind and body. These skills allow clients to become more aware of their thoughts and emotions without immediately reacting to them. The purpose of using DBT is to help clients regulate intense emotions, tolerate distress in healthier ways, and respond to situations with greater balance and intention. As clients consistently practice these skills both in and outside of therapy, they can reduce unwanted behaviors, improve emotional stability, and build a stronger sense of control over their daily lives.
