I am currently licensed in the state of New York (LMHC) Presently, I work as a Program Director for residential treatment services for clients impacted by substance and mental health challenges. Along with my formal education, I have 23 years' experience working within various modalities, providing me with skills to utilize techniques and interventions from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Expressive Therapy, Solution Therapy, Couple Counseling (Effective Communication & Conflict Resolution), Grief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing., etc. Frequently addressed issues in treatment may include anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, abuse, life transition problems, general stressors, self-esteem issues, dysfunctional patterns of behavior, etc. I am also a member of the American Counseling Association.

First session

Our first session will consist of you telling me briefly about yourself, why are you seeking therapy, and what do you think you want to achieve out of therapy. I also am interested in any previous therapy (what worked and what didn't). I find this information to be useful to treatment approaches, schedules and flexibility.

Strengths

My greatest strength is recognizing the characteristics of each individual and how does that characteristic support the individual in becoming a better version of themselves. I also believe active listening to clients and understanding what has impacted and influenced them is critical as to their decision making or lack thereof. I believe it is important for clients to tell what and who has shaped them.

Ideal clients

Adults (18+), Young adults (18-25), Older adults (65+) College students or working professionals Parents and caregivers Personalized Approach: When I come upon my ideal client, I can tailor my therapy approach to meet their specific needs. This personalization enhances the therapeutic relationship and improves client outcomes. Empathy & Understanding: Understanding the challenges, goals, and backgrounds of my clients allows me to empathize more deeply and offer more relevant and effective support.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This method is essential to helping the client understand cognitively how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors play vital roles in their decision-making and ultimately their lives.

Grief Therapy

This method is critical for those who are challenged in areas of their lives that rest upon their cultural experiences. Understanding how culture has shaped beliefs and norms can be the foundation for treatment goals. This

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This treatment method allows one to focus on the uniqueness of each individual, their strengths and challenges. It also allows fluidity in developing treatment objectives and interventions. The person-centered approach supports individualism, respect and congruence towards the client.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

This method allows the therapist to explore thoughts and behavior patterns with the client

Couples Counseling

Cognitive-Behavioral Couples Therapy (CBCT) extends this framework by addressing the cognitive distortions that contribute to relationship distress. Partners often hold unrealistic expectations, make negative attributions about each other's behavior, or engage in selective attention that amplifies problems while minimizing positives. Key interventions in CBCT include: Identifying and challenging relationship-damaging thoughts Behavioral experiments to test negative predictions Communication skills training using speaker-listener techniques Problem-solving protocols for addressing conflicts Behavioral contracts for changing specific patterns

Today’s session gave me a lot to think about. I’m grateful we had the space to be honest and really hear each other. I’m hopeful about what healing could look like, but I also know rebuilding trust takes time, consistency, and actions. I’m willing to take it one step at a time. ❤️

My first 45-minute session with Jacqueline went well, but every appointment after that has been stressful. I rescheduled within the allowed timeframe, yet I continued receiving calls and texts for the original appointment while at work. When I asked how to avoid this in the future, I didn't feel my concern was handled professionally. Most recently, my scheduled session was a no-show. Overall, the scheduling and communication have been frustrating.
