I am here to help with providing ways to get started in developing a new and happier you. I can offer nine years of very successful counseling experience where I offer comfort, hope, and ultimately progress! I graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master's Degree in Education/Counseling. I specialize in anxiety, depression, grief, women's issues, ptsd, bipolar, and relationships. Also I can help you overcome rejection, low self-esteem, work issues, anxiety, people pleaser tendencies, living in the past, guilt, addictions, how to stop living your life as the victim, and how to love and accept yourself. I am passionate about helping women struggling with self esteem and victimization. I use evidence based modalities such as CBT and solution focused therapy. I will introduce you to grounding, mindfulness, and deep breathing techniques. I will get you started with proven coping strategies so you can see progress faster.

Being an animal rescuer and my passion for working with the military, I have a unique perspective on what therapy can be.

We will begin our journey together as we work in small steps that make sense to you. You will find that I am very easy to work with and every session will be meaningful and helpful. I look forward to helping you to feel better and stronger. Feel free to make an appointment with me in the Grow calendar today.

First session

In the first session, I will want to listen to your story and you will define what needs to change in your life. Then we will work on getting an understanding of what your symptoms are, such as were you previously diagnosed for something. We will define what you are looking for in therapy as well as naming your goals. *Note the therapist does not complete FMLA forms.

Strengths

I will listen to you and I mean really listen with no judgement and with an open mind. You will feel safe and respected. I offer hope and a path forward. We can work together with evidence based approaches that get results fast such as solution focused therapy. Being an animal rescuer and my passion for working with the military, I have a unique perspective on what therapy can be.

Ideal clients

Military/Veterans Those feeling misunderstood and stuck. Those working to build self-esteem and independence. Those who need help to develop assertiveness skills. Fear of the unknown. Those who are people pleasers and want to be able to say no. Anyone who is afraid of changes. Those suffering from anxiety. Adults going thru relationship changes. Adults who suffered trauma, PTSD. Adults suffering from work issues when dealing with coworkers or their boss. Those that have lost a loved one and are still grieving.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

According to the cognitive model, for every situation in life, we have automatic thoughts. These thoughts influence us emotionally, psychologically, and how we behave. The way to interpret a situation determines how we will act and react in the situation. CBT also recognizes that the way we think about ourselves, and others, influences our automatic thoughts. CBT addresses our self-doubts, our ineffective actions, and our incorrect assumptions about ourselves.

Motivational Interviewing

The best way to make changes in your life is when you are motivated and decide you have enough reasons to move forward. Motivational interviewing is about the therapist asking questions that will give the client insight and motivation to want change.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Certified Mindfulness Informed Professional (CMIP). Try mindfulness 2-5 minutes a day to help to shut down the stress response. Incorporate into your daily routine.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Unwanted thoughts and feelings can be treated with ACT. Let’s find your values and goals then work to move you towards them.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-focused therapy focuses on identifying and building your strengths to help you to foster positive changes, get unstuck, and move forward in your life. It gets right to the things that you are already equipped with to empower you to envision and create your new future.

Patricia seems to be very understanding, open minded, non judgmental, and very caring. Today was my first session with her and I will definitely be going back to see her. She made me feel comfortable without feeling like I’m being judged.

I like that Patricia concentrated on what I can control. She actually encouraged me to move past the hurt by focusing on me. She realized my strengths and possibilities to handle the ordeal that brought me to seek out therapy. It was easy talking to her and I look forward to continuing sessions in the future.

Patricia is a great listener, came prepared for our session and was wonderful at making connections. Gave me a bit of what to expect for our next session which was also helpful for me.
