I am in drug addiction recovery and have been sober for 18 years. Started as a counselor assistant about 16 years ago, gained many years of experience working with many different clients' challenges and various cultures. I come from a non-judgmental perspective as I understand the importance of clients feeling safe in session. I absolutely love doing this kind of work.

First session

Therapy isn't just about what is discussed in the session, it is about what happens in between the sessions. Together we will identify goals and the processes to achieve them!

Strengths

I work with individuals to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. My therapeutic approach involves Reality Therapy, Existential and Psychodynamic approaches.

Ideal clients

I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are motivated to make meaningful changes, even if they feel stuck or unsure where to begin. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, low self-esteem, or major life transitions. Others are navigating addiction recovery, grief, trauma, stress, or challenges related to work, family, or personal identity. I also work with individuals who want to improve emotional regulation, build healthier relationships, develop greater self-confidence, and create a more fulfilling life. Whether you're struggling with communication in your marriage, recovering from a difficult breakup, managing ADHD, overcoming shame, or learning healthier coping skills, therapy can provide a place to gain clarity and move forward. My goal is to help clients move beyond simply managing symptoms. Together, we'll identify practical strategies, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, build on your strengths, and develop a life that aligns with your values and goals.

Treatment methods

Reality Therapy

One of the primary approaches I use is Reality Therapy, a practical, present-focused model that helps clients identify what they want, evaluate whether their current behaviors are helping them achieve those goals, and make meaningful changes through healthier choices. Rather than dwelling on the past, Reality Therapy emphasizes personal responsibility, self-evaluation, and taking actionable steps toward creating a more satisfying life. I work collaboratively with clients to identify what they can control and develop realistic plans that align with their values and long-term goals.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because it helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Many people become stuck in negative thinking patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, or unhealthy coping behaviors. CBT provides practical tools to identify these patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and replace them with healthier, more realistic ways of thinking.

Psychodynamic

I use a psychodynamic approach with clients when I believe their current struggles are influenced by unresolved past experiences, early relationships, or unconscious emotional patterns. While CBT helps clients change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors in the present, psychodynamic therapy helps clients understand why those patterns developed in the first place. By increasing insight into these deeper influences, clients can gain greater freedom to make different choices and develop healthier relationships.
