Portia Seals
I know how lonely it feels when emotions are overwhelming, relationships are tough, or family conflict leaves you stuck. I create a warm, non-judgmental space where you can truly be yourself. Whether you want to build self-esteem, practice being assertive, navigate relationship issues, or deal with feeling misunderstood, I am here to help. I warmly welcome people from all backgrounds, including the LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergent individuals, and anyone who has struggled to find a therapist they can relate to.
I welcome and support people from all backgrounds, including those who are neurodivergent or part of the LGBTQ+ community, and anyone who’s struggled to find a therapist who truly relates to them.
We will work as a team to build stronger connections, break painful cycles, and create practical tools so you can live a more balanced, fulfilling life.
First session
In our first session, my main goal is to get to know you and understand what brings you to therapy. We will talk about your goals, questions, and what you want to get out of our time together. You can share as much or as little as you like. We will go at your pace, and there is no pressure to dive into everything right away. I will also answer your questions about the therapy process. Most importantly, you will have a safe, welcoming space where you can begin to feel heard and understood.
Strengths
What sets me apart is my ability to create a warm, accepting space where you can safely be yourself. I work as your partner and will be direct when needed, helping you look at your feelings honestly while supporting you the whole way. I use proven methods tailored to your needs, focusing on practical tools to build confidence, assertiveness, and healthier relationships. Because of my experience with diverse backgrounds, I understand what it feels like to be misunderstood or isolated. My clients often say they feel heard and empowered. They leave our sessions with better coping skills, deeper self-awareness, and a stronger sense of balance in their lives.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to work as a team and open to trying. You do not need to have everything figured out. A willingness to share your thoughts and actively participate is what makes our sessions successful. Because my approach relies on teamwork, I work best with clients who want to build a real connection and partner with me to find a path forward. If you are ready to show up, try new tools, and work together, we will be a fantastic fit.
Treatment methods
Psychoeducation
I help you understand your symptoms and how stress affects your brain and body. By explaining the facts clearly, we can work together to build a personal toolkit of coping skills. This will help you feel more in control of your daily life..
Trauma Informed Care
I create a safe and respectful space where you can work through difficult experiences. I understand how trauma affects your life, so our focus is on building trust and helping you heal. Together, we will work to help you regain control and improve your well-being.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you spot and change unhelpful thoughts and actions. This teamwork leads to lasting, positive changes in your life.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to balance warm understanding with practical, real-time skills like mindfulness and coping with distress. Together, we will manage intense emotions and build a more balanced, meaningful life.
Supportive
I use supportive therapy to help you build emotional strength and handle life's challenges. We will focus on the present moment in a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard. By combining active listening, practical problem-solving tools, and education about mental health, we work together to boost your strengths and bring back balance during tough times or major life changes.
