New to Grow
Hi, I’m Alyssa, I currently live in Vermont though I’m originally from New Jersey, where I practiced in New Jersey shore area. I’m married with two boys one being special needs. I have been a clinical social worker for over 30 years. I have worked with clients in their early teens all the way to end of life care, along with grief counseling and some experience in dealing with autism or autistic issues. I also deal with a lot of ADHD issues and like to focus on coping strategies. In my free time I like to go hiking skiing and paint. I started my career at 24 and have been working ever since and I’ve learned so much over my 30 years of practice that I actually utilize it in my own life too.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
When you see me for the first time, i’m going to want to get to know you a little bit, and also answer any questions you may have for me. I generally try to make you feel as comfortable as possible, and utilize a more conversational tone to help you at ease and not feeling so nervous about going into therapy with a new therapist.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I’m pretty unique in the style of my therapy. I like to utilize a more conversational approach where you feel more comfortable and not feeling like you’re in a therapy session. I try to make it more like you’re just talking to somebody about what’s going on in your life and then from there I am able to discuss with you what your goals might be what kind of things you want to work on etc. I really just kind of meet clients where they’re at and we sort of go from there and as time goes on we’re able to learn more about what’s happening and finding ways to cope better with whatever is going on in your Life. I’ve been doing therapy a long time. I’ve had a lot of success stories I’ve seen and heard a lot of things over the years and I feel very well-versed in helping my clients focus on what they need and how to get those need to met.
