Renee Swatz
I will meet you where you are and work tirelessly to assist you in getting to where you want to go. I strive to be warm, compassionate and empathetic as I gently guide you through the healing journey. I recognize that healing is individualized and treatment approaches should be tailored for each person for the best possible outcome potential. I look forward to walking alongside of you as you explore your concerns.
First session
I will hear you, both in what you are able to express verbally as well as in those areas that language becomes difficult. I will assist you gently through the steps of healing.
Strengths
I am well versed in specialization areas including C-PTSD, grief and loss, and spiritual trauma. I utilize skills from various therapeutic approaches to tailor treatment plans and individual sessions to client' needs and concerns. I understand the importance of language and communication and hope to set the tone of safety and support as client's engage in problem exploration.
Ideal clients
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State with four years experience working with a diverse adult population (ages 18 and up). I am most at home working with individuals that are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief & loss, substance use disorders, life transitions, and attachment concerns. I am a certified Trauma Professional and is proficient in Complex Post Traumatic Stress disorder. I aim to make my client feel seen, heard, understood and safe while keeping holistic well-being at the center of her approach. I have a Master’s degree from Oakland University and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional from Evergreen Certifications. I currently have openings in any of the above areas and looks forward to connecting with you.
Treatment methods
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
This treatment approach allows me to teach the client how to "accept the unacceptable," while providing ways to manage emotional reactions and responses.
Attachment-based
I utilize this approach to assist client's in formulating secure attachments with clinician and other important figures in client's life, thereby impacting client's overall support network.
Christian Counseling
I am a Christian with my own set of beliefs, but I am also working on a spiritual trauma certification as well as being well-versed in assisting client's in leaving the church. I will employ Christian perspectives from a scriptural basis and offer prayer support upon client request.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is utilized in cognitive restructuring, allowing clinician opportunity to teach client how to challenge negative self-talk behaviors and increase more positive, healing self-talk.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT utilizes distress tolerance skills to assist client's in regulating emotional responses and employing additional coping skills effectively to regulate emotional reactions in times of more extreme stress.
