Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Missouri. I earned my Master's Degree from Simmon's University in Boston, MA and have been practicing for over 6 years. I work with teenagers and adults who are coping with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and self-esteem issues.

I have also spent a number of years working as a Medical Social Worker and are able to help clients and caregivers through complex medical journies.

First session

During our first session, we will spend some time on introductions and getting to know one another, beginning that important client/therapist relationship. We will also spend time talking about challenges that you are facing and goals that you want for yourself. This critical session is important for me to develop a plan of action to help you meet your goals.

Strengths

You will find that I am empathetic, warm and kind during our sessions. One of my biggest strengths is the manner in which I can pose challenging thoughts in a comfortable way so that my clients begin to see that change is possible.

Ideal clients

I enjoy working with both teenagers and adults who are ready to take the first steps into improving their lives. My clients are generally eager to improve but often feel stuck and cannot see a way out of their current situation. During our sessions, I work with clients on becoming the best version of themselves and help them see that change is possible.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We will explore how negative thoughts contribute to our emotions and actions. Together, we will work towards identifying these thoughts and changing negative patterns that surround our behaviors

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

We will work together to take steps towards your desired future and the life you want to live. This model allows a person to find solutions within their own strengths

Psychodynamic

Together we will explore current mindset, as well as, past experiences, to fully understand current emotional and behavioral patterns. We will get to the root of unresolved issues and how they can influence present thoughts, feelings, and relationships.

I was matched up with Tonya, and it's a great fit. She's extremely positiive and has a wonderful way of communicating. She's warm, solution-oriented, and goal-oriented, which is what I need. I am thrilled to have her by my side. She's an excellent therapist.

When I speak to Tonya, I feel like I'm talking to an old friend. It feels good and very relaxing. She is authentic and that's what encourages me to come back to her. She is empowering me to focus on myself and the things I do to bring about change in my life.

she is very good at listening and pointing out patterns and things that I hadn’t considered or hadn’t given enough attention to. She is never judgemental and always understands where I’m coming from and makes me feel heard.
