Ellen Jacob
I help individuals work through the anxiety of every day life, life changes, and depression. I know therapy can be hard to start, and sometimes working through the past can be hard too! We will work together to navigate the waters, so that you can feel your best self! Clients describe me as calm, intuitive, and easy to talk to. I offer teletherapy statewide, creating a space where you can breathe, reflect, and rebuild your sense of stability and calm.
A Safe Space to Heal, Grow, and Find Balance
First session
Your first session is a chance to feel heard, understood, and comfortable, and not to have everything figured out. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re currently experiencing, and what you hope to change or better understand. I’ll take time to learn about your unique circumstances, strengths, concerns, and goals while answering any questions you may have about the therapy process. Together, we’ll begin identifying practical steps and strategies that can help you feel more supported and in control. You’ll have space to talk openly without judgment, and we’ll develop a treatment approach that is personalized to your needs. **You don’t need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say. Just showing up is a great place to start.**
Strengths
I bring warmth, compassion, and a nonjudgmental approach to every session. I believe therapy should feel like a collaborative relationship where you can be honest about what you’re experiencing while still feeling respected and supported. One of my strengths is helping clients work through complicated situations and emotions without losing sight of what they can control. I combine empathy with practical, evidence-informed strategies to help clients manage anxiety, improve emotional regulation, strengthen boundaries, navigate relationships, and cope with major life changes. My experience supporting clients through grief, caregiving, dementia-related challenges, high-conflict relationships, divorce, and other difficult transitions has taught me to look at the whole person—not just the problem bringing them to therapy. I also recognize that progress looks different for everyone. My approach is flexible and personalized, drawing from CBT, DBT, ACT, attachment-based approaches, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care when appropriate. **Most importantly, I want clients to leave therapy feeling heard, understood, and equipped with tools they can use in their everyday lives.**
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are teens and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, high-conflict divorce, co-parenting stress, grief, caregiving, or major life transitions. I work especially well with people who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. I also enjoy working with caregivers and families impacted by dementia, as well as individuals processing loss and significant changes in their lives. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If you’re ready to better understand yourself, build healthier coping skills, strengthen boundaries, improve relationships, and create meaningful change, I’m here to support you.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I provide an evidenced-based eclectic model of therapy, that puts you in the drivers seat. I create a calm, supportive space for individuals navigating anxiety and depression. My approach helps you build emotional balance, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with a sense of peace and confidence. Together, we’ll work toward lasting relief and a more grounded, fulfilling life. This background supports individual therapy as many people present to therapy with relational issues. I am so glad you are here! In our first session together, here's what you can expect You can trust that we will start slow, build a relationship and answer questions that you may have. You will walk away with some direction and insight. The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions I am authentic, direct, non bias and give clear direction. The clients I'm best positioned to serve I work with trauma, mood disorders, family issues (divorce, parenting issues, and parent child relationships). I help children/ teens navigate issues, helping their parents understand and support them.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Through a supportive and person-centered approach, I help clients identify unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier coping skills, and build practical strategies to manage anxiety, depression, stress, and life challenges. My goal is to help clients feel empowered, self-aware, and more confident in creating lasting positive change.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop greater psychological flexibility and learn how to navigate difficult thoughts and emotions with self-compassion and mindfulness. Through this approach, clients learn to stop struggling against painful experiences and instead focus on living in alignment with their values and goals. ACT helps clients build emotional resilience, increase self-awareness, and create meaningful change while developing healthier ways to respond to stress, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
