Mirna Rodriguez
Hi, I'm Mirna! I'm a bilingual LMFT. Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. My clinical experience includes working with couples, families, teens, and children. I use a family systemic approach, and EMDR to offer a personalized approach to each client.
I use a family systemic approach, and EMDR to offer a personalized approach to each client.
I also have experience working with individuals that have experienced trauma-related events such as childhood trauma, domestic violence or sexual assault. With compassion and understanding, I will join you in your unique journey.
First session
In our first session, I like to welcome my clients, get to know them, and help them feel comfortable by creating a safe space for them. We will discuss present concerns, what is already being done to solve the "problem" because the client has inner resources and wisdom that guides him/her to a solution. The client will be asked what are his/her expectations and goals for therapy which will help me develop a plan of action for future sessions.
Strengths
I provide an empathic and compassionate approach to each of my clients.
Ideal clients
I love working with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, and/or trauma because I have found them to be some of the most resilient people I have ever met. It is a privilege to walk alongside them on their healing journey. I also enjoy supporting adults who are experiencing recurring relationship conflicts with partners, parents, children, or siblings, or who feel stuck in unhealthy family roles. Together, we can explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck and work toward healthier ways of relating to yourself and others. If childhood family experiences continue to affect your current relationships, I provide a safe, supportive space to understand those patterns and create meaningful change. Whether you're looking to build healthier boundaries, strengthen emotional regulation, improve communication, or better understand how your family system has shaped your beliefs, behaviors, and emotions, I would be honored to support you in your journey toward healing and growth.
Treatment methods
EMDR
I am EMDR trained and have seen the positive impact in clients. I have a gentle approach when using EMDR where the client is still in control while processing traumatic events.
Family Therapy
I am trained in family systems approach as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe the individual is part of a larger system and as such is impacted by it. The individual is not the problem, the person is just stuck in a behavioral cycle and that's where I can help. I use family systems knowledge to helps individuals see the whole picture of the problem but also exceptions and solutions to it. Together, we work side by side and find solutions.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Trained in EFIT level one. Emotions are not talked about, we need to feel them. Through, EFIT approach, I aid clients become in touch with their emotions, identified them, described them, but most importantly feel them and know that it is okay to do so.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Through parts works, the client is encouraged to identified and acknowledge a part of self that has been neglected due to shame or guilt. I like to use this approach when a client has gone through a lot of trauma because it helps the client to know him/herself and generate self-compassion.
