If you struggle with anxious attachment, people pleasing, setting boundaries, feeling triggered, anger, anxiety, depression, co-dependence, parenting issues, and ADD/ ADHD, then I want to work with you.

I am sex positive and competent to work with folks who do (or don’t) engage in an alternate lifestyle including poly, ENM, or identify as LGBTQ+ with regard to the issues mentioned above.

These symptoms and attachment style are often related to each other and often related to similar childhood experiences of inconstant or abusive/neglectful caregivers. (ADD and ADHD is not cause by caregivers, however, when it goes undiagnosed in children, there is s strong correlation to symptoms described above)

First session

In our first session together, I will ask you to share with you what prompted you to seek out therapy in the first place, and what goals you have for our time together. I will share feedback and talk with you about how we can work together to meet your goals both in session as well as what you can do to support your goals between sessions. We will review confidentiality expectations, cost / payment/ insurance, scheduling/ canceling appointments and other housekeeping type information.

Strengths

My counseling style is non-judgmental, direct and empowering in my counseling style. I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate, with a pretty good sense of humor. I'm here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. I am sex positive and competent to work with folks who do (or don’t) engage in an alternate lifestyles

Treatment methods

EMDR

If you have ever thought to yourself "I know one thing is true... but the way I feel is the complete opposite of what I know" of “I feel triggered” or felt “like a child (or teenager)” when triggered, then there is a strong potential that EMDR therapy techniques along with Inner Child Healing can help to resolve this conflict between what is known and what is felt. EMDR is a technique that has shown to be highly effective to treat the lasting effects of traumatic experiences, including traumatic childhoods. Essentially, EMDR "Puts the past in the past." EMDR uses (primarily) eye movements to access the parts of the brain that cannot be accessed through talk therapy alone. Inner Child Healing is a technique that actually accesses the emotional part that is the unhealed child and works to heal the hurts of trauma, and support the grief over what should have been but never was… (This is often an adult who failed to provide protection, love, education, support etc.) I have been using these techniques for about 10 years overall and about 4 years online. They are equally effective for In-Person and Online therapy formats

Trauma-Focused CBT

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) Considers the connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviors, (conscious and subconscious) and that the relationship between then can be adjusted for insights awareness and behavioral changes. In other words, CBT focuses on the belief systems (or feelings) that a person experiences, that inform how they respond to life experiences "Triggers" and teaches how to think differently about these experiences.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

SBFT – is a strengths based, preventative, and wellness-based approach to therapy which uses solution focused intervention to support clients using their innate strengths to address problems, situations, or obstacles. SBTF shifts focus form the negative to the positive, from the past to the future, and from what’s wrong to what’s going well. This empowers the client.

I have been working with Jacqueline for over a year on and off and her therapy is not based in theory or just simply making me feel better but giving me actual things to do , to say and to try. It makes me feel like I have plan every session. Also she doesn't waste time talking about nothing. Everything feels meaningful in the session and on topic. I appreciate her approach her as a busy mom who wants to make thing better for her family.

She gave me options for a plan that seemed "doable." She didn't give me a goal that is out of reach that I would have given up on. I also like the wrap up sheets about the session so i know what to observe and think about for the coming week.

Jacqueline is genuinely interested in helping me make sense of the events in my life, my relationships, and my feelings/instincts. She challenges my assumptions and offers an objective perspective on situations I have misinterpreted. I know she will be a helpful coach on my quest to better understand my self, leave behind some shame and guilt, and navigate the rougher terrain of my emotional landscape. I am looking forward to smoothing out some bumps and obstacles on my path with her help.
