I am a fully licensed Master’s Level Clinician and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over ten years of experience in the mental health and substance use field. I earned my Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University. I am passionate about supporting adolescents, young adults, and adults through life’s challenges. My clinical expertise includes treating anxiety, depression, ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), grief and loss, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), and substance use disorders. I believe in creating a supportive and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, empowered, and equipped to make meaningful changes. Whether you’re navigating emotional difficulties, managing a diagnosis, or seeking recovery support, I am here to help guide you on your journey toward healing and growth.
The first session, is generally an assessment bring a blanket, something to drink and be cozy. The information needed are prescriptions, physician contact, and goals for service.
I have worked in what some people would consider difficult enviornments treatment centers, residential juvenile center, community mental health, private college and public education. I enjoy using motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy. I want clients to feel heard.
I do not have a dream client. I would want a client that shows up and is as authentic as possible given their current situation. I have worked different fields and enjoyed all of them. I enjoy peeling back the layers with clients.

I am so relieved to have found Shelly. I immediately felt comfortable and supported by her. I am hopeful for the first time in a long time that I can improve my mental health because of Shelly.
