Brittany Russotto
I’m a therapist who believes that meaningful change happens in a space where people feel safe, understood, and genuinely supported. Many of my clients come to me during moments of overwhelm, transition, or emotional stuckness. My role is to offer a calm, compassionate environment where you can slow down, explore what’s beneath the surface, and begin building a life that feels more manageable and worth living. I work with teens and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I also support individuals who struggle with coping around substance use, as well as their families, who often carry their own layers of worry, confusion, and hope. In addition, I work with those experiencing disordered eating, helping them understand the emotional patterns behind their relationship with food and develop healthier, more sustainable ways of caring for themselves.
As a woman and mother, I offer an added layer of understanding for women navigating anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and substance use—particularly within the context of identity, caregiving, and societal pressure.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence‑based practices. I integrate cognitive‑behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and trauma‑informed care, tailoring each session to your unique needs and pace. I see therapy as a partnership — one where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to reconnect with yourself in a deeper, more grounded way. Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or navigating challenges within your family, I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion and clarity.
First session
In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, supportive conversation focused on getting to know you and what brings you to therapy. I take a down‑to‑earth, collaborative approach and appreciate humor as a way to help ease nerves and create connection. We’ll talk about your goals, what’s been feeling challenging, and what you want from therapy—at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and understood from the very beginning.
Strengths
As a therapist, I am down‑to‑earth, supportive, and approachable, helping clients feel at ease quickly—even when discussing difficult topics. My ability to use humor thoughtfully allows me to build connection, reduce shame, and make therapy feel human rather than intimidating. As a woman and mother, I offer an added layer of understanding for women navigating anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and substance use—particularly within the context of identity, caregiving, and societal pressure. Clinically, I incorporate evidence‑based approaches like CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing while staying flexible and collaborative. Rather than forcing a one‑size‑fits‑all model, I meet clients where they are at and help them move toward change with compassion, practicality, and respect for their autonomy. My goal is for my clients is that they don’t just feel helped—they feel understood.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is trying their best but feels overwhelmed by the weight of their experiences. They may be navigating anxiety, trauma, or patterns that feel hard to break. They might be a teen trying to make sense of big emotions, an adult moving through a major life transition, or someone noticing their substance use is getting harder to manage. I also connect deeply with individuals who struggle with disordered eating or who use certain behaviors to cope with stress, shame, or uncertainty. What matters most to me is not where someone is starting from, but their willingness to show up honestly — even if that honesty looks like “I don’t know where to begin.” My ideal client is open to exploring their story, curious about understanding their patterns, and ready to build healthier ways of coping. They don’t need to have everything figured out; they just need a desire for things to feel different.
Treatment methods
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I have extensive training and experience in utilizing DBT with individuals in various settings, including individual and group sessions, to help manage intense emotional dysregulation. DBT is at the core of my clinical work and is an evidence based treatment helping individuals find acceptance where they are at and move towards the positive change they desire. I incorporate DBT skills to help individuals manage their mental health while improving emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have extensive training and experience in utilizing CBT with individuals in various settings, including individual and group sessions, to help manage anxiety and unhelpful thought patterns. My clinical work is comprised of CBT methods to help clients with anxiety and addiction by identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns that lead to distress and unwanted behaviors. Together, we build practical coping skills, increase awareness of triggers, and develop healthier ways to manage anxiety, cravings, and emotional discomfort. CBT helps clients strengthen problem-solving skills, improve emotional regulation, and support lasting behavior change aligned with their recovery and personal goals.
Motivational Interviewing
As a therapist, I believe that it is important to meet clients where they are at. I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore and strengthen their motivation for change in a supportive, nonjudgmental way. Through collaborative conversations, I help clients identify ambivalence, clarify personal values, and increase confidence in their ability to make meaningful and sustainable changes aligned with goals they have for themselves.
Trauma Informed Care
I focus on building a relationship grounded in trust, collaboration, and choice. I pay close attention to how your nervous system responds in session, and I work to ensure you feel emotionally and physically safe before moving into deeper work. My approach emphasizes empowerment, helping you understand your own patterns, develop regulation skills, and reconnect with a sense of agency. I integrate evidence‑based modalities through a trauma‑sensitive lens, meaning we move slowly, intentionally, and with respect for your boundaries. Whether we’re exploring coping around substance use, navigating family dynamics, or working through the complexities of disordered eating, I aim to help you feel seen, supported, and in control of your healing process. Trauma‑informed care isn’t a technique — it’s a way of showing up. It guides how I listen, how I pace our work, and how I help you build the stability and resilience needed for meaningful change.
