I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social worker and live in Minnesota, where I have been in private practice for almost 25 years. I really love my work with clients. I especially enjoy helping clients move from feeling stuck in their lives to feeling empowered.

In working with clients since 1984 and doing private independent practice since 2001, I don't assume I know the answers to the issues you bring to therapy, but I help you to find your answers.

My goal is to help clients live the life they most desire and I have helped thousands of clients to do this.

First session

In the first session we will explore what circumstances brought you to make that first call for help, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. We will look at your previous therapy experiences and whether they were helpful or not, and how we might do things to better meet your needs. I will explain that we will work 'in partnership' which means that I will bring my considerable expertise to your issues and you will bring yours. From there we will make an initial plan, which we can revise as needed.

Strengths

In working with clients since 1984 and doing private independent practice since 2001, I don't assume I know the answers to the issues you bring to therapy, but I help you to find your answers. I see you as your most important ally, and I am there to support you.

Ideal clients

My dream clients are those who struggle with being, or feeling 'different' from the mainstream, and those who struggle to accept themselves because of a perceived difficulty, or a disability.

Treatment methods

Eclectic

I have experience providing many kinds of therapy and I partner with you to determine what will be the best form, for you. We look at what has worked for you in the past, as well as what has not worked. I take my cues from you!

Attachment-based

We look at early relationships with caregivers to determine how they may be impacting your current relationships. Clients who are motivated to work with this approach have found it very freeing, in my experience.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We work to identify unconscious messages that reflect mistaken beliefs about yourself that you may hold, and then we work to talk back to these messages and correct mistaken beliefs.

She is very to the point. Will stop me and have me recognize certain thoughts or behaviors and suggest alternative ideas to combat them. She's really good at providing information on outside materials & task to do in the future.
