(she/her)
I am a licensed clinical social worker, independently licensed in Arizona with over 15 years of experience providing therapy to adolescents, adults, veterans, couples, and families. I have worked with individuals with a wide range of concerns including various types of trauma, depression, anxiety, self-harm, drug and alcohol struggles, relationship issues, life adjustment difficulties, low self-esteem and ADHD. I have also helped many people who have experienced thoughts of suicide and hopelessness. I believe that feeling safe, supported, and non-judged are essential in building a successful working relationship, and treating everyone with dignity, respect, and compassion. You are not a label. We will work together to develop a treatment plan that meets your specific goals and needs. My therapeutic style combines culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approaches using cognitive-behavioral therapy, EMDR, attachment-focused, psychodynamic, mindfulness, and narrative therapy.
In our initial session, we will embark on a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment, aiming to understand the full spectrum of your medical and mental health history, relationship dynamics, current challenges, and specific needs and goals. This thorough evaluation is crucial in forming a holistic view of your well-being, which will guide us in creating a tailored treatment plan.
I believe my compassion and empathy to build a safe and inclusive space to support each individual I work with helps people feel seen, heard, and valued. This coupled with my 20 years of experience in behavioral health care, expertise in trauma and relationship work, and ability to reduce the anxiety surrounding the therapy experience allows each person to grow and process at their own pace of recovery, while learning strategies and actionable steps to measure their progress makes me an effective provider.
I am best positioned to serve women, men, and teenagers seeking support for anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Many of my clients are navigating complex emotions, persistent stress, or overwhelming thoughts that impact their daily lives. They may feel uncertain about the future, struggle with self-doubt, or experience difficulty managing relationships and responsibilities. My clients often approach therapy with a mindset of wanting to understand themselves better, develop coping strategies, and regain a sense of control. They are motivated and open to engaging in the therapeutic process, valuing actionable steps and practical guidance to make positive changes. My approach is particularly well-suited for individuals with ADHD aiming to strengthen executive functioning, as well as women aged 18 and older moving through various life stages and transitions such as young adulthood, parenting, divorce, and menopause. Therapy goals typically include reducing symptoms, building resilience, improving emotional regulation, processing and resolving the impact of trauma, and fostering personal growth.

Attachment-based
I use Attachment therapy to focus on helping individuals form secure and healthy emotional bonds in their current relationships by addressing disruptions from early attachment relationships. Through various techniques, I aim to foster trust, safety, and connection, which are essential for emotional well-being and effective interpersonal relationships.
EMDR
Using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy technique that guides clients to recall distressing experiences while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation, typically through guided eye movements. This process helps reduce the emotional impact of traumatic memories by allowing the brain to reprocess the experiences in a less distressing way.

Sarah feels like a "meant to be" therapist for me. She has a lot of experience and expressed understanding my difficult and unique life experiences. In addition, she was validating of my position and left me feeling more at ease and less ashamed.

Sarah helps me understand why I'm feeling a certain way and helps me understand how to move through situations with those feelings. She's funny and kind and always goes back to the things that cause the root reactions that I have to situations and its very helpful to understand myself better.
