I've been a practicing psychotherapist for over twenty five years providing in and outpatient therapy for adolescence and adults. I am interesting in working with clients who are motivated for change, who are willing to make a commitment to the process of change and consistent with treatment. I am also interested in clients who are willing and open to developing a therapeutic relationship base on trust. The goal of treatment is to help clients to improve their insight regarding the issues/problems that they want to change.

First session

The first session with be used to introduce ourselves to one another by talking about what bought you to therapy and any past therapy experiences. We will talk about your issue or problem and what expectations or changes you are looking to make. We will go over your schedule and how offer you are available for treatment sessions and we will discuss treatment options related to your issue.

Strengths

What makes me unique is my commitment and consistence to the work I do with my clients. What stands out is my honest and open approach to identifying issues related to why we would or wouldn't be able to work together. For me Identifying weather a client is willing to make a commitment to the process or not is important to know from the start.

Ideal clients

I am interested in working with clients who are committed to improving their insight regarding issues or problems they want to change. My practice services a range of clients with mental health issues to substance use/abuse problems. I have over twenty five years of experience working with adolescence and adults, in acute psychiatric hospital settings, high school based mental health clinics, in/outpatient substance treatment programs as well as doing trauma informed treatment. I work best with clients who are consistent with their treatment and open to building a trusting therapeutic relationship.

Treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Most people who request therapy have some awareness of what's making them uncomfortable or ill at ease with themself. Using the brief treatment method clients are able to focus on current problems and identify actionable solutions by using existing strengths.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Helping clients to build a relationship of trust and learning how to identify and restructure negative thought patterns and maladaptive behaviors by improving their insight and learning how the effects of unworked trauma affect their mental well being.
