Ebony Yelder
Do you find yourself overthinking? Maybe placing else's needs before your own and struggling to say no without guilt? Feeling responsible for keeping the peace, managing other people's emotions, or living up to expectations that no longer fit who you are? Sound familiar? Patterns like these can quietly shape our relationships, our self-worth, and our boundaries well into adulthood. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in the same frustrating cycles, I want you to know something a lot of people don't expect to hear in therapy: you don't have to spend months dissecting the past before things can start to change.
I am dedicated to helping my clients get to the core of what is holding them back and work to help them rewrite their narrative while bringing to the surface the light that has been dimmed.
I help individuals through hard transitions and difficult pasts get clear on what they truly want their life to look like — and take meaningful steps to get there. Instead of asking you to spend session after session focused on what's wrong, I'm interested in helping you discover what you want instead — and what might help you move closer to it. Progress can begin with small changes, and we'll pay attention to those changes as they happen. I am Ebony Yelder, LPC. My career has taken me into many different settings, including behavioral health hospitals, outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, in-home therapy, and work with the Department of Defense supporting service members and their families. Each experience has shaped the way I practice today and reinforced something I continue to believe people often have more strength, resilience, and resources within them than they realize. First session
During our first session, we'll spend some time getting to know each other and talking about what brought you to therapy and what you'd like to be different. We'll explore what's most important to you, what you hope to get from therapy, and what may already be working that we can build on. There’s also room to talk about your past when it feels relevant, without making it the sole focus of our work. The first session is also a chance for you to get a feel for me and my approach, ask questions, and decide whether working together feels like a good fit.
Strengths
My style is professional but laid-back — come as you are. You don't need to edit yourself or have the right words. This is a space where you can be yourself, speak honestly, and feel respected as we focus on what matters most to you.
Ideal clients
I work with adults who may be feeling stuck, going through a difficult change, or simply realizing they want something different for themselves. Maybe you're working on setting better boundaries, building confidence, navigating complicated family relationships, or getting back to feeling more like yourself. I also welcome LGBTQ+ individuals to show up as they are. I especially enjoy working with young adults navigating relationships, family expectations, independence, career decisions, and the pressure to have it all figured out. Therapy can be a place to sort through what's going on, get clearer about what you want, and feel more confident in your choices. I also work with people experiencing grief and loss. There's no right way or timeline for grief. Sometimes you need a place where you can talk honestly about what you're feeling, adjust to what has changed, and begin figuring out what moving forward looks like for you.
Treatment methods
Strength-Based
My approach is rooted in Solution-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I don't believe therapy should look the same for everyone. We'll focus on what you want to be different, what's already working, and the strengths you may not always recognize in yourself. There’s room for the hard stuff, too. Your experiences matter, but they don't have to define where you go from here. We'll focus on what matters to you and what can help you move forward in a way that feels right for your life.
