Ashley Caudell
My approach is supportive, honest, and collaborative. I’ll meet you where you are while also helping you recognize patterns, behaviors, and thought processes that may be keeping you stuck. My goal is not only to listen, but to help you gain insight, build practical skills, and make meaningful progress. My background includes working in high-stress settings and supporting people through complex challenges. Those experiences have shaped a practical, down-to-earth approach that focuses on strategies you can actually use in everyday life.
Over the years, I’ve supported people working through stress and anxiety, disordered eating, addictions, relationship struggles, trauma, abuse, and depression.
I believe you are the expert on your own life. You already have strengths and resilience within you, even if they’re difficult to see right now. My role is to help you recognize those strengths, build on them, and develop the tools and confidence to create lasting, meaningful change. Reaching out for help takes courage. It’s the first step toward creating a life that feels more balanced, fulfilling, and joyful. If you’re ready to start that journey, I’m here to support and empower you every step of the way.
First session
The first session is simply a chance for us to get to know each other—there’s no pressure, and you don’t need to have everything figured out before you come in. We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what’s been weighing on you, and what you hope will be different. I’ll ask questions to better understand your experiences, but the conversation will feel natural, not like an interview. You can expect me to be warm, easy to talk to, and genuinely engaged. Along the way, I may offer a different perspective or gently challenge unhelpful patterns, always with the goal of helping you feel supported and understood. By the end of our first session, I hope you leave feeling a little more at ease, with greater clarity about what you're experiencing and the confidence that you don't have to navigate it alone. We’ll also talk through what the counseling process will look like moving forward, so you feel clear and supported from the start.
Strengths
What sets my approach apart is that I focus on helping you move forward, not just talk about what’s been difficult. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, while also working together to recognize patterns, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and develop practical strategies you can use in everyday life. I often work best with people who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted and are looking for more than just a place to vent. Our sessions are collaborative, goal-oriented, and tailored to your needs, with a focus on building insight, strengthening coping skills, and creating meaningful, lasting change.
Treatment methods
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a client-centered therapeutic approach designed to help individuals resolve ambivalence and build motivation for change. It encourages collaboration between the therapist and client, rather than the therapist being in a position of authority. It’s meant to evoke intrinsic motivation from the client to make positive changes.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals identify and change negative thought patterns, behaviors, and beliefs that contribute to emotional distress. The therapy is based on the idea that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected, and that by changing negative thinking, we can change our emotional responses and actions. In CBT, therapists work with clients to recognize distorted thinking, challenge these thoughts, and replace them with more realistic and balanced ones. The therapy often involves practical techniques like problem-solving, behavior modification, and relaxation exercises. It's typically short-term and goal-oriented, with the aim of equipping individuals with tools to cope with life's challenges.
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation in therapy refers to the process of providing clients with information and education about their mental health, emotions, behaviors, and coping strategies. It aims to increase the client's understanding of their condition, help normalize their experiences, and empower them to make informed decisions about their treatment. By learning about their mental health, clients can better manage symptoms, understand underlying causes, and improve their overall well-being. Psychoeducation is often integrated into therapy sessions and can involve teaching skills for managing stress, anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges.
