Dawn Soriano
Life may look steady from the outside, yet still feel heavy or overwhelming underneath. Holding things together can come with ongoing stress, tension, or patterns that don’t seem to shift, even after real effort. There may be a quiet need to feel understood — to be heard without having to explain everything, and to be seen without having to hold it all together. This is a space where that can begin to happen, and where things can gently start to feel lighter and more manageable over time. EMDR, CBT, Person Centered Therapy Begin your healing journey in a comfy, cozy nonjudgmental space.
First session
Our first session will continue gathering your information and why you are seeking treatment, and begin building rapport.
Strengths
My approach to therapy is more of a gentle touch. I will hold space for you to unpack and process your difficult experiences and the emotions and feelings tied to them. I will also be firm and push back when you are not being honest. I believe that therapy only works when the client is honest.
Ideal clients
I work well with adults who battle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and suicidal ideation, who are willing to not only attend counseling sessions but also do the work outside of the therapy office. I also believe in a holistic approach, treating a person as a whole and not just one part. Clients are encouraged to maintain regular medical appointments as well as address mental health issues with a psychiatric medication provider to ensure issues are treated from all angles.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented form of psychotherapy. It focuses on how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected. By identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns, CBT teaches practical coping skills to improve your mood and responses to difficult situations.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize DBT to assist clients with learning how to tolerate distress and sit with their emotions and feelings rather than avoiding them.
EMDR
Describe EMDR as a natural, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain "digest" and reprocess traumatic or stuck memories. Using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) alongside memory recall, EMDR reduces the emotional charge of past events so they lose their distressing grip on the present.
Trauma-Focused CBT
TF-CBT as a structured, supportive, and evidence-based therapy that helps clients process traumatic memories without being controlled by them. It combines traditional talk therapy with practical coping skills
