My name is Flemens Casimir, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with six years of experience providing counseling services to individuals from diverse backgrounds and demographics. In addition to my work in general mental health, I also have extensive experience in substance abuse treatment, supporting clients who struggle with addiction and co-occurring disorders. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is enhancing my ability to support clients in addressing trauma that often contributes to ongoing mental health and substance use challenges. My therapeutic philosophy emphasizes meeting clients where they are in their current stage of life. I approach counseling with authenticity, empathy, and a commitment to being nonjudgmental, because I believe that when someone seeks mental health support, the last thing they should encounter is judgment. My goal is to create a safe and collaborative environment where clients feel empowered and respected as they work toward healing and growth.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first session with me, we will focus on getting to know you and understanding your unique experiences, concerns, and goals. I will ask questions about your personal history, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share your expectations, and discuss any concerns you may have about the process. Together, we will begin building a collaborative relationship, and I will introduce my approach to therapy, including the tools and strategies that may be most helpful for you. By the end of the session, we will work on identifying immediate steps and coping strategies you can start using, as well as plan for future sessions. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to begin your journey toward growth and positive change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the combination of empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based methods tailored to each client’s unique needs. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Person-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to address both immediate challenges and long-term growth. This blend allows me to help clients not only manage symptoms but also gain insight, develop practical coping skills, and build resilience. I prioritize creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to take an active role in their healing. My approach is highly collaborative—together, we set goals, track progress, and adapt strategies to ensure they are effective and meaningful for the client. Clients often report that my method helps them achieve tangible results, including improved emotional regulation, healthier relationships, reduced anxiety or depressive symptoms, and increased confidence in their ability to navigate life’s challenges. By combining compassion with structured techniques, my approach supports lasting, positive change while honoring each client’s individuality and pace.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to work with clients who are motivated to explore personal growth, overcome challenges, and develop healthier coping strategies. I support individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, relationship challenges, and co-occurring mental health concerns. My ideal clients are open to self-reflection and are seeking a collaborative therapeutic experience where they feel heard, validated, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. I am particularly effective with clients who want to: Gain insight into unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors Develop practical strategies to manage stress, anxiety, or substance use Heal from past trauma and emotional wounds Strengthen self-confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation Achieve personal goals in a structured, supportive environment Through a combination of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, EMDR, person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing, I help clients move toward lasting change while honoring their individual values, pace, and readiness for growth.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in therapy because it is a powerful, evidence-based approach for addressing trauma and distressing life experiences. Many clients I work with carry unresolved memories that continue to trigger emotional pain, anxiety, or negative self-beliefs, even years after the original event. EMDR allows clients to process these memories in a safe and structured way, reducing their emotional intensity and helping clients reframe how they view themselves and their experiences.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because it is one of the most effective, research-supported approaches for helping clients create meaningful, lasting change in their lives. CBT focuses on the powerful connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—and teaches practical skills you can use outside of sessions to improve how you feel and function day to day.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Many emotional and behavioral struggles—such as anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, low self-esteem, anger, people-pleasing, or difficulty trusting others—are often rooted in unresolved past experiences. Trauma-focused therapy is an evidence-based approach that helps clients safely process these experiences so they no longer control present thoughts, emotions, or relationships. Rather than only managing symptoms, trauma-focused therapy addresses the underlying causes.

Strength-Based

I incorporate Strength-Based Therapy because I don’t see people as problems to be fixed. I see people as capable individuals with existing resources that can be activated for change and eventually become their own therapist.

I appreciate the direct approach and asking questions that are going to make us face our challenges and not revert to the past. Not allowing us to say but causing us to be upfront with no excuse.

Listened and gave solid advice I needed to hear. Feel like I will truly grow in our sessions because he gave clear encouragement. I was nervous about my first meeting but now I am ready to face somethings head on.
