Kimberly Allen
Hi! I am Kim Allen. I am excited to meet with you! I have been working with individuals of all ages for over 15 years. I have always been passionate about helping others and would love to support you whether you are simply going through some tough times, needs some motivation in making a change in your life or are struggling with some more difficult challenges. I have worked with a variety of populations including victims of trauma; parents, adolescents and children struggling with mental health or other neurodivergent individuals (ADHD, autism, etc). and individuals working to make lifestyle changes such as diet and nutritional changes. I have also worked with couples on improving their communication and relationship skills. I am particularly passionate about helping others find ways to make changes using natural means including things such as meditation, dietary changes, nutritional supplementation and behavior modification.
Whether you are new to therapy or just seeking someone new to work with, I understand that taking the step to meet with someone new can be overwhelming.
Whether you are new to therapy or just seeking someone new to work with, I understand that taking the step to meet with someone new can be overwhelming. You have taken the first step toward making change. I hope you will let me help you take the next step!
First session
Meeting someone new can be overwhelming, especially when you will be sharing private and at times intimate details about yourself. I take this very seriously and feel that it is important for a trusting relationship be built between us. You can expect the first session to be about building a relationship of trust and developing an understanding of the goals you have for therapy. As we move through sessions we will develop a plan together on how to best address the concerns you are bringing to therapy. Sessions will then proceed with reaching your goals in mind.
Strengths
While I have experience working with a variety of individuals and continue to enjoy supporting all populations, I particularly thrive in working with individuals that are open to trying less conventional methods. While I feel that medications can be helpful, I find that there are a number of other types of intervention that can help people long term including making dietary change, learning stress management, utilizing talk therapy, exercise, etc.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns and explore how they may contribute to emotional distress or challenges in daily life. My approach focuses on developing healthier perspectives, building practical coping skills, and empowering clients to make meaningful changes that improve their emotional well-being and overall quality of life.
Supportive
I use supportive therapy to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and validated. My approach focuses on building a trusting therapeutic relationship while helping clients process emotions, navigate challenges, recognize their strengths, and develop healthy coping strategies. I offer encouragement, perspective, and practical guidance while empowering clients to make decisions and create meaningful changes in their lives.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I incorporate mindfulness techniques to help clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without judgment. My approach focuses on helping clients stay grounded in the present moment, reduce stress, and develop greater emotional awareness and regulation. Through practical mindfulness strategies, I help clients recognize patterns, respond to challenges more intentionally, and build a greater sense of balance and control in their daily lives.
