With over 21 years of experience in the mental health field, I am dedicated to helping adults navigate life’s challenges and find healing. As an LPCC licensed in both Ohio and Kentucky, I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and self-esteem issues. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Cincinnati, and my approach integrates a deep understanding of human emotion with a genuine desire to create meaningful change. My therapeutic style is warm, approachable, and often includes humor to help create an open and supportive space for growth.

My clinical knowledge, grounded in proven counseling theories and therapeutic techniques, empowers me to choose the most effective interventions for each client.

I use trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices to help clients process past experiences, build resilience, and reclaim their sense of safety and control. Validation, empathy, and humor are key tools I use to make healing feel not only possible but hopeful. Together, we work to foster lasting change, create healthier coping strategies, and develop a stronger, more empowered sense of self. Life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, but with the right support, transformation is always within reach. I am here to walk with you, every step of the way, toward a future filled with healing, strength, and peace.

First session

Therapy should be a compassionate, non-judgmental space where individuals can feel heard, understood, and valued. Now, imagine a life without constant overwhelm. After just the initial session, a shift often occurs—whether through a sense of relief, renewed clarity, or a fresh perspective on life’s challenges. The goal is to not only address immediate concerns but also to empower individuals with the tools to navigate life with greater ease and confidence.

Strengths

As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), I bring a range of strengths to my practice that help me effectively support and guide my clients. At the core of my approach is a deep sense of empathy and compassion, allowing me to connect with clients on a personal level and create a safe, non-judgmental space for them to explore their feelings and experiences. I excel in active listening, picking up on both verbal and non-verbal cues to understand the full scope of my clients' challenges. This enables me to apply problem-solving strategies that are tailored to each individual, helping them break down complex issues into manageable steps. My clinical knowledge, grounded in proven counseling theories and therapeutic techniques, empowers me to choose the most effective interventions for each client. I also place great value on self-reflection and ongoing personal growth, continually assessing and improving my practice. Boundaries and professionalism are essential in my work, and I maintain them in a way that fosters trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship. I approach my work with resilience and patience, understanding that healing is a journey that takes time and effort. Finally, I embrace a collaborative approach, working with other professionals to ensure comprehensive care that addresses the many facets of my clients' lives. These strengths collectively inform my practice, allowing me to support my clients in meaningful and lasting ways.

Ideal clients

Anxiety can make even the simplest tasks—like getting out of bed, going to work, or having a conversation—feel overwhelming. This persistent sense of worry or dread can disrupt daily life and limit personal growth. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, the goal is to help individuals reduce the grip of anxiety and restore balance through a therapeutic partnership built on understanding and connection. Areas of Specialization: Anxiety & Stress Management, Depression & Mood Disorders, Trauma & PTSD, Life Transitions & Personal Growth, and Self-Esteem & Identity Exploration.

Treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

This treatment modality covers four key areas. It is used to teach mindfulness skills, regulate emotions, develop new relationships, improve old relationships, and tolerate stress.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is used to link thoughts to feelings and behaviors. Helping clients develop skills to change their thoughts to reduce intense emotions and impulsive/mood dependent behavior. This is helpful when treating depression and anxiety.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-Based therapies can be used to reduce stress and increase joy. This can be helpful when dealing with substance use issues, experiencing work or financial issues, and to cope with medical diagnosis.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing techniques help clients explore their ambivalence to change. This technique is typically used when treating addictions, however; it can be helpful when addressing any changes in life that the client deems important.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma informed care is an empathetic way to address trauma. I couple this with prolonged exposure therapy to address symptoms created by experiencing trauma, potentially resulting in adjustment related disorders and PTSD.

she was very open and understanding of my situation and provided me with knowledge on my anxiety and depression and made a goal to lower both of those.

Sara is very down to Earth and easy to converse with. She's very articulate when communicating but also good at knowing when to keep things light with her humor. One of the aspects of our sessions that I appreciate most is her ability to help me communicate and summarize how I am feeling even when I am rambling. Her responses to what I am saying always feel very authentic and I am grateful that I have found her as my therapist.

Sara is not afraid to challenge me with hard truths and is very solution oriented. I have seen great progress in my thought patterns and perspectives within a few sessions. If you're looking for a therapist who is kind and authentic but also firm and direct, she is a great option.
