Melanie Pykiet
I have been working within the counseling field for over 20 years, licensed for over 10 years. I have worked predominately in individual counseling, but also with "at-risk" families and youth. I love to work with young adults to older adults moving through life to find meaning, purpose, and meet their goals for healthy relationships from family to work spaces.
First session
Our first session is focused on getting to know you, your story and what brings you to therapy. I am interested in the goals you would like to achieve, previous therapy, what works and what has not worked for you.
Strengths
I believe my greatest work as a therapist is building a relationship one can trust, and challenge areas where there are issues or "striving" for something different and work toward becoming one's best self.
Ideal clients
I work mostly with persons who struggle with identity from family of origin or gender affirmation, family issues from learned narratives to working on healthy relating, transitions in life spaces including young adult goals to those more seasoned and finding meaning and purpose. I work with those who experience or have experienced anxiety/depression/trauma to working toward their future goals with greater confidence and agency.

I use several methods to create change in my clients from a more Adlerian base, but also CBT, DBT, client-centered, value oriented, trauma informed practices.
