Michael Bryan
If you or your teen feel anxious, low, or stuck, you don't have to figure it out alone. I'm Dr. Michael Bryan, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Tucson with a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from BYU and 25 years of experience. I've spent my career helping teenagers and adults work through anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, and life transitions.
Helping teens and adults move from stuck and overwhelmed to steady and confident, with practical tools that work.
My style is warm, direct, and practical. I'll listen carefully, then give you real tools so you can start feeling better, not just talk in circles. I see clients in Arizona and Nevada, online or in person.
First session
Our first session is relaxed and unhurried. I'll ask about what's bringing you in, listen to your story, and make sure you feel heard. Before you leave, you'll have a clearer picture of what's driving the problem, one or two goals we'll work toward, and a small first step to try that week. For teens, I'll usually spend some time with a parent too, so everyone is on the same page.
Strengths
Before becoming a therapist, I worked with young people as a high school counselor and a sports coach, so I know how to connect with teens who don't want to be in a counselor's office. I'm a steady, calm presence, but I'll also gently challenge you when it helps. Together we find the root of what's going on and build a clear plan with progress you can actually see.
Ideal clients
I work with teens (13–17) and adults of all ages who are struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, anger, grief, or stress at school, work, or home, and who want practical help, not just a place to vent. That includes teenagers finding their footing, young adults starting out, parents carrying a heavy load, and adults who feel stuck or worn down by life. You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need to be willing to try new skills between sessions. If faith matters to you, I'm glad to bring it into our work.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT teaches you to spot the thoughts and habits that keep anxiety and depression going, and to replace them with ones that work better. In practice that means learning skills in session, like calming your body, challenging worst-case thinking, and facing fears step by step, then practicing them between sessions with short, simple assignments. Clients who put in a little work outside sessions see the fastest results.
Christian Counseling
If you'd like, I'm glad to bring Christian principles, scripture, and faith in Christ into our work. Many clients find strength and hope in their faith during hard seasons. If you'd rather keep therapy secular, that's completely fine too. It's always your choice.
