I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes therapy should be a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. I approach therapy with empathy, compassion, and genuine care, working collaboratively with you to better understand your experiences and support meaningful change.

I believe each client deserves an individualized experience tailored to their specific concerns, needs, and goals.

My goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and empowered as you navigate life’s challenges.

First session

Booking that first session can be intimidating, especially for someone who has never seen a therapist, and in all honesty, the first session can be and does tend to be the most awkward. There's a good bit of background information that I'll ask, in order to get to know you, your history, and what's brought you to therapy. The first session is also a great time for you to get an impression of me. I like to sum the first session up as a "getting to know each other" session or an information gathering session.

Strengths

Two of my greatest strengths as a therapist are compassion and empathy. I recognize that every individual is unique, and I incorporate this understanding into my approach to therapy. I believe each client deserves an individualized experience tailored to their specific concerns, needs, and goals. There is no one-size-fits-all approach in therapy, and I am committed to meeting each client where they are to provide care that is both effective and meaningful.

Ideal clients

I work best with clients who don’t need or require a traditional therapist. I find myself having a go-with-the-flow vibe, not a handout and homework vibe. My style of therapy allows me to work with a wide range of clients, and it allows me to be able to meet clients where they are. Sessions may vary from week-to-week based on need, or they may be more structured, this is based entirely on what clients are needing.

Treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My approach begins with creating a non-judgmental space that is safe for everyone I see. My goal is to ensure the clients I see feel heard, respected and understood. You are the expert on your life, and I come in to play a supportive role. As a supportive role, I am here to offer empathy and genuineness, while providing encouragement.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is important for me to utilize so that I can help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, behaviors and emotions. With CBT there’s a lot of focus on identifying unhealthy thought processes and working to replace them with a healthier thought process.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is used to help clients build practical skills, that work for them, to help reduce impulsive behaviors, manage intense emotions and even improve relationships. When I utilize DBT the most common tools focused on are; mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and effective communication.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

We all have strengths, so why not focus on them! Solution Focused Brief Treatment (SFBT) is about identifying the strengths that clients already have and building on those strengths to work on and towards their goals. This method doesn’t solely focus on the problem(s), it also focuses on finding solutions, identifying progress and the positive changes that a client wants to see within their lives.
