Anna Stoehr
A lot of the people I work with are used to being the “strong one.” You’re the one who handles the logistics, pushes through the burnout, and shows up for everyone else. Underneath all of that, you might be navigating a major life transition, a betrayal, or a level of anxiety that no longer feels manageable. I specialize in working with adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who are tired of just "getting through" the day. I believe that true healing doesn't happen through clinical detachment; it happens through a real, human connection. I show up as a person in the room with you: someone who can sit with the heavy stuff, offer a sense of humor when things feel absurd, and build a rapport that allows you to feel truly seen and challenged.
First session
Your first session is a chance to get to know each other and talk about what's bringing you to therapy. You can share as much or as little as you're comfortable with. We'll explore what's been going on, what you hope will change, and what you need from therapy. You don't need a perfectly organized story or even know where to start.
Strengths
I bring warmth, honesty, and a willingness to meet you where you are. I’m comfortable sitting with the hard stuff, helping you connect the dots, and gently challenging patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Therapy with me isn’t about checking boxes or following a script. It’s about figuring out what you need and making sense of things together.
Ideal clients
I work with people who want to understand themselves more deeply and feel less stuck in patterns that keep hurting them. You might be healing after infidelity, struggling with anxiety, working through past trauma, or trying to find yourself again after a difficult season. You may understand why you feel the way you do but still struggle to change it. We'll work together to bridge that gap.
Treatment methods
EMDR
EMDR can help when past experiences still affect how you feel, think, or respond in the present. You might find yourself reacting strongly to certain situations, struggling with trust, or feeling like you can't move past something even though you understand it logically. We can work together to process difficult experiences at a pace that feels manageable.
Humanistic
I believe meaningful change happens when you feel safe enough to be honest about what's really going on. I approach therapy with curiosity, respect, and the understanding that you are the expert on your own experience. My role is to help you explore your feelings, understand yourself more clearly, and discover what moving forward looks like for you.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps us understand how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We might explore anxiety, self-criticism, or reactions that leave you wondering why you responded that way. I use CBT flexibly to help you recognize unhelpful patterns, develop practical coping strategies, and make changes that fit your actual life.
