I have provided clinical services in various therapeutic areas, such as shelters, inpatient/outpatient hospitals, and schools.
In doing so, I work with clients with multiple concerns, including parenting, depression, school problems, and trauma, to name a few. I provide trauma-informed care with experience addressing grief, community violence impact, etc.
First session
In our first session, we will do introductions. We will use this as an opportunity to get to know each other. I may ask you questions about your symptoms, what brought you to therapy, and some questions about your life history. We will also come to an agreement about the logistics of future sessions.
Strengths
Having worked with a variety of clients for over 20 years, I have developed a solid understanding of proven strategies and techniques to help my clients identify their strengths and challenges, while identifying the root causes of their concerns. Ultimately, I skillfully tailor a plan that leads to measurable and sustainable results.
Ideal clients
I love working with clients who are ready to grow! Thus, my clients are motivated and eager to improve their lives but don't have the tools or skills to achieve this goal. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, and unsure about the trajectory of their lives.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used CBT to work with clients experiencing a variety of concerns, such as anxiety and depression.
Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS)
I was recently trained in this model, but have numerous years of experience conducting suicide assessments and developing plans for safety and stabilization.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
Foundational to all of my work, is cultural responsiveness and sensitivity.
Trauma-Focused CBT
I was recently trained in TF-CBT and continuously participate in consultations to ensure meaningful outcomes for clients.
Motivational Interviewing
I use M.I. to support clients who are ambivalent about change. This method is effective client-centered approach.
